    U2 A320 at La Guardia

I know we had a heads up a while ago about U2 flying in to play over in New Jersey. Looks like they opted for LGA (instead of EWR), as C-FPWE is parked on the GA stand behind the Trump '72.

I have a few shots from Planeview, so they should be up in a day or two.

Any idea how long they'll be around and if the flight is trackable?

I could be wrong, I know I'm reaching here, but go with me.

I think I recall Ron saying that Air Canada was letting U2 use a plane of theirs for their tour.

If this is the case, I just looked at all the Air Canada flights into LGA today. All were 700-something, but there was one that stuck out as 7000-something.

    Airline Air Canada
    Flight Number 7072
Departure City (Airport) Toronto, ON, Canada (YYZ)
    Departure Time 05/21/2005 02:15 PM
Arrival City (Airport) New York, NY (LGA)
    Arrival Time 05/21/2005 03:14 PM
    Remaining Flight Time 00:00
    Aircraft Type Airbus A320
    Current Altitude 0 feet
    Current Groundspeed 0 mph
    Flight Status Arrived

Then I clicked on it and it's an A320. Maybe that's it?

It's actually an Air Canada Jetz aircraft, not sure if that would show up differently on the tracker. The flight # does sound like a charter, and U2 was off the past couple days before their show at MSG tonight. Maybe it was ferried to Toronto for brief maintenance.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

Yeah, myself and Futterman also saw it depart.

All three of us were at completley different locations and all caught its departure by accident.

My mom was on the verge of tears, she was so frustrated as to how I could possibly tell that was U2's aircraft. haha

I had to make a quick trip to PIT today Tues 5-24, when we departed at 0615 the U2 plane must have come back as it was parked at 5 Towers next to Trump, when we returned at 1500 it was gone !

futterman i shared that experience, only it wasn't with my mom and she wasn't in tears. but the people i was talking to were shocked that i could identify that one airplane as it barrelled down the runway. once again proving to many that i know more about aviation than those that have been there for 5+ years... =D
