American 763 at LGA

I just saw an American 767-300 on the Expressway Visual for two seconds from my science class at 1130AM. We haven't been having any inclimate weather that could call for aircraft subs like this, so I wonder what the reason was.

I thought we usually get -200s, so something like this is definitely nice. I'd still trade it for that Spanish A310, though...damn...

Brian, the 762 is actually the rare one, the 763's are usually here a few times a month on 757 equipment subs, usually MIA-LGA-MIA on the flight you saw, it operated AA 923 LGA-MIA off the gate at 1232. This is due to lots of spare AA Widebodies during the day at MIA, they come in early morning from South America, go back out at night so they are sometimes free mid-day. If LGA could accomodate a 777 we would probably see it occasionally, very wishful thinking.

That picture is very interesting. I never knew AA had so many planes that they store them for the day.

I would love to fly out of LGA in an AA 763. Do their 757 gates hold the 763? Also, they must have some open seats considering it was a larger equipment change.

ISPWN, AA has I believe 4 gates at LGA that are 763 compatible left over from the DC-10 days. I don't have the exact figures as I am at work but the capacity increase is not much at all due to the 763 being 3 class and the F and J seats take up a fair amount of the cabin. And as far as the pic that is only part of the fleet, more including the 777's where further west in front of their hangar.

Actually Ron, the 767-300's are two classes now so there is a decent increase in seats from a 757 to a 763.

The 757's hold 22/166 and the 763's hold 30/189 (though some hold 182 or 183 in Y).
