    ATA Getting Some New Planes

I read that ATA is going to be getting a few 733s and 735s this fall,a dnmaybe some 763s by 2006.

I wonder what/if LGA will get to see of these, and if we will lose ourt 738s.

Used to be such a gorgeous fleet. I think the recent changes are so sad.

Right, to replace the L1011s. :-(

It'd be nice to see something new with the airline, but the 737-300s and -500s aren't even NGs...so it's more like seeing something old. Their newest -800W is almost a year (N333TZ) and was their last delivery, for now at least.

I've gathered through A.net that the ATA L10s are the most common charter aircraft at BWI...and it's not too far, either...

I saw an ATA L1011 come into DEN a few weeks ago..

Other than that though, I've heard BWI is a big hub for them. I think they stopped a lot of their military charters though, so I don't know how big of a presence they still have there.

I'd rather see them in LA or Dallas.

phil, i plan on nonreving to BWI one day jus tto catch the L1011. wanna come?

would the 737s that they're taking on be painted in thier current scheme? regardless of what airplane it is it would be nice to see it more often...
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

To bad they couldn't get some 717's. Love to see more of them flying. The 71 would look great in TZ's colors too.

    Leave it to Mike!

The ATA scheme is the best white-body scheme by far. You could put that on a can of Barbasol and I'd fly on it.

    Phil,

Try Shannon or Frankfurt for the ATA Tristars

I read on the Airliners.net threads that American Trans Air was considering getting 747-200s to replace their L-1011 fleet.

This is confusing because I don't see why ATA would want to replace aging aircraft with more aging aircraft.

I imagine the availability of parts is a big factor. You can count the number of L1011 operators on one hand nowadays, so good luck finding spares if your plane breaks down.

747-200s are much more common, especially on the cargo scene, so I can see why they would opt for the type.
