    747SP at JFK

747-SP reported at JFK at this time. (Thursday afternoon).

    Possibly Bahrain VIP.

In any event, apparently not one previously documented at JFK (to the best of my knowledge).

Wasn't there a Yemenia 747-SP at JFK a year or so ago?

Hi Josh - yeah, Yemen was at JFK that one time. and of course Saudi 747SP at EWR a few times.

Likely nearly every VIP aircraft we might ever see again, and many we won't, were here some years back for the UN 50th Anniversary(?), but doesn't seem to be a definitive record of them all for that occasion.

I believe Cuba brought in 2 IL-62s for that though.

    Tom -

I didn't get out to catch any of those VIP arrivals last year, but I remember all the "ooohs" and "ahhhhs" at Art's slideshow when Senga showed off his collection of shots from that week. Both you and Senga dropped everything and did nothing but photograph planes that week, if I recall correctly. :)

Anyways, back to topic, do you have information on when the 747-SP currently at JFK will be leaving?

It was a Bahrain 747SP came in around 3:30

Was out at Costco shooting the Air Tahiti Nui, and was surprised to see a 747SP on final.

Josh, - Yes, it was a long week with no sleep last year.

Two scanners, two cars, wait ..wait ...wait..and then simultaneous VIPs on 31R and 31L... and you don't know which is better.

and forget getting caught between The Mounds and 13R. :D

No idea when the 747SP there now will depart..but they don't usually stay too long. Generally just drop off and pick up.

Now that's just not fair that you got the Air Tahiti Nui AND the 747SP. :)
Do you have any pictures of it that you could link to here? I'm sure everyone would love to see what it looks like!

That's one hell of a productive couple of hours of spotting, Eric. I'm envious. :)
