    JFK 7/7,8/13 [Image Heavy!]

I finally got back to JFK; the first time since I came back from Africa five months ago!

The first flight I saw on the way up was BAW3457 747-8F (G-GSSF) while crossing the Verrazano Bridge.

The morning started out with arrivals on the 31s:
    LAN532

    TAM8078

After just a few heavies traffic was switched to the 22s so I was finally able to test out the 'new' spotting location for morning 22L arrivals.
One of the first planes I got was the Jetblue "Jets" (the only JBU logojet I was missing).

One FedEx MD-11 in another one out:

To my surprise HAL50 showed up about three hours late which was good for me, I needed a better shot of that one!

My first up-close view of the new colors, looks good on an RJ.

Another surprise, FDX9737 from London Stansted, seems pretty rare. I saw her later that day parked in front of the Evergreen buildings.

Around 1pm the light was getting pretty bad so I decided to head over to the mounds but the light there was even worse. It finally became good around 2:30ish...

In the meantime I was again surprised when I saw the Geico Sky Team sky writing!
I liked hearing the low drone of AT-6s over JFK!

It was really hot that day but an Ice Cream truck came by and I couldn't resist a "Mister Softee" cone ;)

    BAW Oneworld

N767MW Operating on behalf of Atlas Air as GTI8151 after spending four days in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

    Sharp looking ETD 777

    The beautiful LOT 787!

Anyone you know snapping pics from CHQ6368 from RDU?

Finally an up-close pic of Openskies.

The new scheme looking good in evening light with FIN6 behind.

A redemption shot, last time I saw this plane it was horribly backlit at IAD.

"Speedbird 3" celebrating Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.

    My first AEA A330.

I was very happy to get my first Sharklets!

CPA looking good in some nice pink summer light.

Of course the sun had to disappear behind a wall of huge storm clouds right when one of my favorite planes was coming in! Oh well, guess it couldn't be a perfect day ;)

    7/8

That morning to my surprise JFK was still using the 22s so I went back to the 'new' spot again to get the early morning arrivals:

    AAL950

    ELY1

    CLX431

    My first TAM 777!

DAL269 went to 22R. Originating from TLV she diverted to CDG and stayed there for two hours, not sure why...

And a record for me, for a whole 24hrs JFK ATC kept traffic on the 22s! :)

    FJM121

About 30 minutes before I was gonna head home traffic was switched to the 31s so I left early.
All-in-all a great one and a quarter days at JFK!

    Hope you enjoyed!

    OUTSTANDING !!!
The beehive hummm of the JT9D and GE CF680C2,the thunder of the JT8D-17,the rumble of the PW1830 and the high ,thin whine of the PW 545A are all music to my ears!

Great shots! I love that evening Cathay and the morning Cargolux. I once stopped over on Brookville Blvd. to catch a 22L arrival, is that the "new Spot" you speak of?

Hey all, thanks for the kind words!

The new spot is at the intersection of Brookville Blvd and 149th ave (the same ave that runs next to the mounds ).
It was discussed a little while ago...

For a long time I've wanted to spot from around there and I finally got the chance. I was there for around five hours the first day and wasn't bothered at all. The only thing is theres not much shade so it gets pretty hot. Other than that it's great and you're real close to the action!

I would not call that an official spot by any means.

Never understood the definition of "official" spot. Official, according to who?

I figured that's the answer I was gonna get. As helpful this guide is, it is by no means "official" either, not to mention it hasn't been updated in ages apparently (see "security" section at the Mounds). NYCA is very, very, very great source of information, but in no way "official".

you know what I mean. Its not a spot we are all going to conjugate at.

Fine, I should have said recommended location. plenty of spotters use that location as a "suicide" spot.
