SkyBus, Welcome to the Hudson Valley!

Today was the inaugural SkyBus flight to SWF. The inbound flight from CMH touched down at 10:35am and the outbound departure lifted off at 11:45am. The actual scheduled times are 10:30am and 11:05am so the departure was a bit late.

I'll be going out again tonight to try and get some shots of the evening arrival.

SkyBus will be running 2xdaily flights to CMH and on February 25th will start 2xdaily flights to GSO.

it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

Gordon, thanks for the coverage, you lucked out and got one of two of their 319's that where delivered new and with the extra exit windows almost hidden under their bright orange paint.

SWF has probably never been served by a carrier with such poor operational intregrity as Skybus so it will be interesting to see how long it takes for them to make the papers because of delays, cancellations, or near riots in the terminal.

At least something different for you to catch at SWF and with several different versions of their schemes all the better. And you never know how long they may be around either.

    Regards

That's exactly my feeling Ron. I doubt they will be around for long although I did run into quite a few people at the "hill" spot who mentioned that they would be flying SkyBus in the next couple of weeks. I'm surprised anyone knows about them around here as I have seen 0 advertising. When JetBlue and AirTran announced they would start SWF they had advertisements all over the place and still do.

I was very glad to get one of the orange aircraft today and I hope that when I go down later tonight it will be the "Nationwide" jet!

I was flying last night taking to JAX center, and heard SkyBus check in on the freq. My first thought was feeling sorry for all the people crammed on that airbus. Nice pictures!

SWF to CMH?? What a weird route to be flying twice a day...I've been to CMH a couple of times, and both times it was from LGA on a half-full RJ...

No thanks, I will fly out there on a CRJ if I have to go and get my bag of pretzels and soda for free once on board.

Great shot, Gordon. I am thinking about coming to SWF this weekend to catch this rare A-319. Could you tell me the spot you took these photos? Thanks.

CMH is SkyBus's Hub...if you can call it that. CMH has been dying for a hub carrier to go in there after HP pulled out and just about everyone else scaled back on their ops as well. The fact is CMH doesn't have to much in the way of industry going for it. It is however a nice alt airport to CVG, its an easy drive and I've found fares to CMH much lower then CVG. Even B6 couldn't make CMH work with the E190, which I'm surprised. Its to bad to about CMH its a really nice airport, very large infact. You really do get the sense though that its a dead airport by its size and lack of passengers.
