This past Saturday I expereienced what is most likely my last game on the field at Michigan Stadium. Once again I was shooting for the ROTC Color Guard and following the flag raising I was free to live the fantasty of a pro sports photographer and photograph the game as well. The following is a selection of shots from the afternoon, which was Military Appreciation Day at the Big House.
First for the flag raising/National Anthem festivities:
"Challenger" is a nonreleasable Bald Eagle that flew in during the National Anthem and is on final approach to land on the 10 yard line.
Followed closely by a flyover by the Black Diamond Jet Team
And now to the game:
Kicker Matt Wile getting ready for the opening kickoff
Quarterback Devin Gardner throwing from outside the pocket
RB Derrick Green broke free for a big gain
...Then ran the ball in for his first TD a few snaps later
Which brings us to halftime and yet another set of flyovers by the Black Diamond Jet Team to accompany the Michigan Marching Band's Salute to America halftime show celebrating the 200th year of the Star Spangled Banner.
Scroll down for the second half.
