Depends on when you get in, Matt. I have an all day training class not too far from the airport that day. If it's a late afternoon flight, I may be able to get over to CLT.

Just a handful from the last week or so...
Matt, I went out on the 8th when training was done, got to CLT a little before 5pm, and caught a couple of AE arrivals. Either of these you?
If not, I'm sure I'll catch you one of these days. I've already got Futt and an old Pilot Training buddy who's an AirTran captain.
Sunday, we had nice weather, but they were using Rwy 36. That meant landing down the other end, and taking off past the overview. A lot of stuff went to the right side (away from us) but we did get this US A330 landing on the center.
We also had a Vision Air 734 drop in for a visit.

Thanks, Sergio. I guess FlightAware had it wrong, they had it listed as a 734. The FAA database confirms that it is a -300.

Glad the overview is open again. Nice catch of the Vision
Thanks Moose, but we arrived just before 4pm in N520AE. Great pictures as always though. The CRJ will bring me through CLT more so I'll let you know when I'm back and hopefully we can get together.

It's been a month since I've been out to the overview, what with being in NY and all, so a sunny, not so hot, Saturday afternoon was as good a reason as any for a spotting visit. For whatever reason, we had a bunch of Dash-8s landing 18C, so time to play with some panning shots...
Although we did get plenty of heavy metal as well...

Just announced, the FAA has ordered CLT to stop using Rwy 5/23, which intersects Rwy 18L/36R.
Full story: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/201...e-douglas.htmlThe Federal Aviation Administration has ordered Charlotte Douglas International Airport to stop using one of its four runways during most of the day due to safety concerns, which could lead to delays and more noise over nearby neighborhoods.Officials first disclosed the new runway restrictions, which the FAA directed the airport to start on July 25, in a memo to City Council on Wednesday. The affected runway is known as Runway 5/23, which sits diagonal to the airport’s three parallel runways. That runway is used mainly for landing jets, and was often used to route approaching flights over the less-populated area west of the airport at night. The FAA was concerned that even though the center runway and Runway 5/23 don’t actually intersect, the flight paths of planes using the two runways can cross, causing what the memo called “safety concerns.”
Hopefully, that means rather than shots like this, we'll see those guys arriving on 18C.

Oh wow thats pretty crazy; never thought I'd see the day. I hope you're right, I've definitely lost a handful of nice planes to runway 23.
Insel Air is definitely on my CLT wish-list!
Coming to America! N288AY, US Airways' newest A330, arrived from Toulouse on her delivery flight today. Gotta love the new airplane smell!
