ZRH - Zurich, Switzerland, 1/4/2012. Fully packed with pictures
On April 1st I made a road-trip to Zurich/Switzerland with a friend of mine to take pictures after years of absence to one of the best airports in Europe for aviation photography.
Generally speaking Zurich Airport is one of the most photograph and spotter-friendliest airports I have been so far worldwide. Holes in the fences created and secured by airport authority, an absolut freedom of following your passion, Police greeting and stop by for a chat, lots of very attractive spotting possitions around the airport and always able to shot with the sun in your back and as a plus for your eye, surrounded by fantastic Swiss nature.
Only 2 hours away by car from my home and fantastic weather, this was a "must do".
I hope you will enjoy the pictures.
Regards
Jens
First we started on a hill next to runway 16, where almost all the long-distance flights take-off during the day.
The hill is accessible for everybody and right in front of you, at the airport fence, a fire trainer (DC8 of Air Afrique) rotts. Sad sight but always great to be surrounded by a classic airliner.
Then we moved over to the approach possition for RWY 14 to get some nice traffic comming in. Especially on the 2 Edelweiss A330 we had an eye on. One is series 200, one 300.
Hope to meet you all soon @ JFK again.
Regards
Jens

Beautiful shots. I heard the observation deck on Terminal B is open. Have you tried the observation deck?

Thank you so much for the nice words. I do appreciate it!
@JZ: Unfortunatelly I didnt try the observation deck so I´m verry sorry that I cant provide you with the information. Actually I would have needed the deck when a brand new Virgin A330-200 came in for cabin work right from delivery from Toulouse. We were on the hill to shoot RWY 16 departures and incomming traffic lands on 14. Not the distance was the problem. The haze...Grrrrr :-)
