Delta Adding Mainline to Schedule at New Panama City Airport

So I have looked at the current schedule for Panama City, Florida's new airport scheduled to open this May. Not only will the Florida Panhandle be getting the coveted Southwest Airlines, but Delta is adding mainline service to the mix as well. Southwest Effect, or a result of longer runways?

Since back in the day National used to fly 727-200's into the original airport "PFN", I doubt runway length was the reason. BTW to show how times have changed NAL flight 435 used to operate MIA-MLB-TPA-PFN-PNS-MOB-MSY with a 727-235. Those where the days.

The new airport is about 3 miles northwest of Panama City, and its identifier is ECP - Everyone Can Party.

Funny though, ECP still does not show up on AirNav. Will they keep ECP after the new airport opens and PFN closes? Will they shift the code like they did with the Stapleton/DIA replacement?

I believe they're keeping the new code. The whole idea with this new airport was to get away from the 'regional' setting the current PFN ('Panama City-Bay County Intl') and open it up for a wider area with 'Northwest Florida - Panama City Intl'.

Why isn't it showing up on AirNav yet though? The airport is there. I don't get it.

Maybe because they don't know the runway numbers, frequencies, FBOs, navaids, approaches, phone numbers, managers, or anything else yet? Would be kinda useless without the info that makes airnav, I think.

I thought they would have it already. We're only two months away. When you look at all that info, it isn't that much time.

Why wouldn't all the old FBO's and other things like that would just move with everything else?
