The NYC Transit Museum used to have an annual JFK tour at a minimal cost. We would meet at the old IAB (now T4). They would take us through security and then up to the new Control Tower where we could speak to the controllers. Photography was allowed. We would then board buses which took us around the ramp area. Unfortunately, even before 9-11, we weren't permitted to leave the buses but you could take lots of photos through the windows. We were supposed to also watch a Concorde departure from Rwy 31L but due to a delay, that was canceled. The tour was great but was too limited. I guess we couldn't be allowed to board international aircraft.
