The three most common expressions in aviation are, "Why is it doing that?", "Where are we?" and "Oh Crap".
Can you tell us a little bit more about the event?
Email me anytime at [email protected].
every year, there is a fundraising event where teams of people sign up. I forget the cause but basically you get a group of people together to see how far they can literally PULL an aircraft, and I think its to see how far you can tow it in a certain amount of time.
I saw a few pics last year, a lear jet with a tow rope attached to the front landing gear and a team of 12 people trying to pull it, like a tug of war.
Too bad we didnt know about it sooner. I think an NYCA group would have made a good team. I think I mentioned it last year.
And I, I took the path less traveled by
and that has made all the difference......yet...
I have a feeling a handle of people are going to be very interested in what I post in the near future.

US has had 4 so far in the last few weeks as part of a Huge United Way drive at US. The PHX one was today and the aircraft used was the Cactus Retro 319. PIT used the Allegheny 319, PHL the Eagles 319, but CLT had to settle for a New Colors A-319 as the Piedmont bird was un-available. Many employees participated and CEO Doug Parker was at each one. The month long goal is to raise $1.5 million for the United Way, I believe we are near the 1 million mark so far !
Cheers

OK, from
http://search.marchofdimes.com/cgi-b...0jet%20pull%20
Jet Pull for Prematurity
Long Island Jet Center/Republic Airport, Farmingdale, NY
Form a team of 20 adults (over 18 years of age) and compete to pull a 727 Jet a distance of 12 feet in the fastest time. The team with the best time will receive an award. Come help us give all babies a healthy start.
I realize this is last minute but I propose the following. I will call March of Dimes now so that next time, we have a heads up. I would like to suggest that for the next time this event is held, we gather a group of 20 of us and do it together as the NYCAviation.com team. Its for a great cause and comes out to $50 per person, it benefits our fellow man and it revolves around aviation, which brought us all together.
Let's really try to do this together next time. MidnightMike, get your tickets handy, you are coming out for this too!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9
Excellent, we have our second participant,(besides me).

I'll be at the office, dont know if I can get there.
Just passed by FRG on New Highway. It's a Fedex 727-200 between Hgr 4 and the air museum. People were gathering for the event in the parking lot by the old Jillians. Time was about 10:10 am.
Slowing down upon landing but Fred will have MUCH better shots since I got there a seconds late.. The early bird gets the Fedex landing!
Get ready to Pull
And PULL PULL PULL!!!
Fred learns he is in Newsday!
Want some Boeing rims for your ride?

Woke up the kids early this morning to head out for the FedEx Plane pull
at Farmingdale (KFRG) and got these touchdown shots.
This was for the March of Dimes
Note: This is the first time I have ever seen a FedEx 727 at FRG!
Once this ramp was set up with F-105's.... Times change!
Hot stuff!
I think I heard my youngest son Jack murmuring "Where is that F#@^$# APU starter"
I said they should have filled the two containers up with lead to screw
with the pull!!!!
This is what made all the smoke on touchdown!
Cute little MD-10
More coming
