Pluto Is No Longer A Planet Scientists Re Write astronomy

I thought this was very very intresting and was wondering what others that might be intrested in astronomy might think about all of this.

They obviously can't make up their minds. I mean, I know it's all part of the original study, but it went the opposite way of what was predicted a week ago.

P.S. What's going to be weird is when our kids grow up and hear/read references to the 9 planets and get confused. That's a bit bizarre.

One of the articles I read about it (in yesterday's Times, I think) mentioned that some of the astronomers there felt that the plan had been sprung on them, having been developed by a small group without much input from the community at large, and that the conference was the first chance anyone else had to provide input about it, which is how it came to be that the final plan differed so much from the initial one.

It could have been more bizarre, with the original plan. Not only would there have been 12 planets instead of the 9 we grew up with, but one object would have been replanet-fied. The asteroid Ceres was originally considered a planet after its discovery, but was later "demoted" to asteroid status, where it's been since.

I am ok either day, there has been arguments for years whether Pluto should be classified as a Planet. One of the major reasons is that Pluto had an unusual orbit, so, a change was going to happen sooner or later.

Now we just need to fix the rhyme:

Anyway, there go my hopes for retiring on Pluto.

Well the excuse that the small group of astronomers who came to this ruleing are saying was the cause is that Pluto has an irregular orbit that crosses through Neptunes path quite often but I think that this is kind of stupid personally. First they were talking about classifying the a moon of a planet I forget exactly which one but now they go and yank a planet. Well looks like alot of science teachers will be busting out the whiteout this year in middle school lol

Its simple really... they decided that Disney characters do not belong in space.
