My x-country adventure, AMA was DARK, IFP new term (pics)

Well I pulled into IFP today, 3 days of driving. I actually had to divert south in PA to get away from some rain and took I79 south through WV. I actually drove through that county where the miners were trapped. I must have missed the explosion by an hour. I stopped in Bowling Green and slept. I pulled into Amarillo and checked in to a motel 6 the second night and planned to shoot at AMA early the next morning. Garri told me the sun would be up by 6:30 (she lives in AMA) I wanted to shoot that 727 that's sitting there and any other plane I could before I had to hit the road. Well Garri was way off! I left Amarillo at 7:30 and it was still dark. I shot this out my car as I high tailed it west on I40. BTW these pics suck cause I shot them out my car and did not edit them.

I got into NM and put the cruise on 90. The landscape is so beautiful. Look close and notice the 75MPH speed limit, we need that in NY!

AZ is also beautiful, I was about 20 mins from getting into Flagstaff here.

After making great time I pulled into IFP. The new terminal seemed like it was close to done, my friend Terri must have left early because the office was locked but some girl working the rent a car desk said it was open. I shot this pic on my out. A G4 bird was sitting on the tarmac.

The pic sucks but I was in a rush to get my first stop on the NV side of the river! This one is for Tommy!

All in all it was a fun trip, my spotting at AMA went out the window but that's ok. SCX has added a flight here in the morning, it's 8 something so I am not sure the sun will be good. If I can get up that early I may go over. I need a SCX/Transavia hybrid shot with the new winglets at IFP.

Nick, thanks for posting that IFP shot, brings back memories. In your shot you can see the hill where I took this shot years ago:

Damn you Mike, you are everywhere! lol

Great shot. I am going to try to get over there today, just woke up and make sgo back to sleep for awhile. You would be surprised how much this area has grown. I don't think the Ramada or Harrah's was here in 96'? Maybe the Ramada, not sure.

Actually that is not a new terminal, it seems it is the gate area for only ticketed pax. The still have the TSA and ticker counters in the original building. Will be a big help though when they have busy mornings.

    Tommy,

That double I had yesterday was the best. That place is just amazing. What business they do, the drive through was packed.

Why don't some of pool our money and buy an In and Out Franchise so we can introduce In and Out to New Yorkers's, I think this could be my first Great Idea of 2006 !!!

god i miss those 75 mph limits... kinda miss AZ sometimes too.
it is mathematically impossible for either hummingbirds, or helicopters to fly. fortunately, neither are aware of this.

In-N-Out remains privately owned and the Snyder family has no plans to take the company public or franchise any units.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem.
All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control.
I trust you are not in too much distress. —Captain Eric Moody, British Airways Flight 9

The owner of IN-N-OUT will never let franchises happen. His restuarants are too good for that drop in quality you get from selling your stores to people. Last night even though there was a little early dinner rush a girl was still cleaning the place, taking care of everything. The whole place runs so smooth and most of the people I think are from CA. You have to be well trained to cook these burgers and they are paid very very well.

Was at IFP again today, they moved the FBO and built a new buidling as well. A giant Sam's club is going up where the old one was. The whole property is coming along well. Now we need a new carrier!
