I assume that you are driving. If you are intested in museums there is a small one at Schenectady County Airport (about 10 miles NW of ALB). I drive by it regularly, but I've never actually stopped...
My spotting days are getting fewer and farther between the older my kids get. Hopefully that pattern will turn around at some point. I did, however, have a short session while the airport was using...
Were you shooting over the fence at the Sicker Road dead end? Snow banks are getting shorter making that harder to do!
I was across the street from the storage site this week. The are disassembling it where it sits. Tail and engines are now gone. :frown:
Yep, still there. I can see the top of the tail out of my office window.
The latest update from the local paper is that the Southwest 737 is destined to be scrapped. It's only being held at the port of albany until litigation is settled.
...
No major airframe repair places in Albany that I'm aware of. The area that it is being stored in is normally used to stage generators (both gas turbine and wind power turbine blades) as they are...
Well, according to the local paper, it is indeed the WN jet from LGA. Apparently just going to be stored here until the investigation concludes. Seems like a lot of trouble and an odd location for...
There were no news articles in the local media that I saw, so at this point all I can do is guess. Scrapping it seems unlikely since there would be plenty of choices other than Albany to do that. ...
Thanks for the replies. I assume that it will go out by rail but I imagine that it will need to be taken apart some first. And it still begs the question of its destination. Will they scrap it?
I noticed this at the port of Albany on the Hudson River today. It came by barge and then was lifted ashore with a crane.

Nice shots! I like the motion blur on the Georgian 1900. Hopefully we'll see some special schemes as US continues to use the A319/320 here.
Thanks! There's a Pepsi bottler right along that side of rwy 28.
Well, after far too long an absence, I was able to get out to ALB in some sunshine today. I don't think that I had been out for a few months. Sometimes life gets in the way!
Of course, the first...
I assume that he was shooting through the gap in a gate at the end of Sicker road. It's spot A on this site's spotting guide for ALB.
Did some checking after my post. It would appear that AVP broadcasts its atis over the VOR frequency 111.6.
As long as you scanner can tune that frequency, you should still be able to hear it. ...
Buying a scanner to listen to the atis seems a bit odd, but that aside, if you are near the transmitter, you should have no problem receiving the atis. If you are not, then either you don't have the...
Had a similar issue with a Sony p&s that I have. I came to the same conclusion, repair would cost more than replacement.
I eventually did replace it. I was going to try and disassemble it myself...
Well, the state health department advises only to not eat the crab and lobster tomalley of fish caught in thso waters.
Scrape the green stuff out and have at it!
Nice pictures! I missed the show last night but I did cast a vote for the winning singer.
Juliet seems to have changed her appearance a bit since you took these Photos.
Weather is crap and I am stuck at work with no car. Hoping for a shot from my office window. Unfortunately, my view only works for runway 1 arrivals.
I have used acarsd in the past. I got a male/male cable from radio shack and plugged one end in the headphone jack on the scanner and plugged the other end in the microphone jack on the Laptop.

The test engine pod is pretty unusual. It reminds me of that cars.com commercial with the guy with the singing second head.
Nice shots!
My interested was piqued by this as I've always loved the F-4. Apparently, these F-4s are now QF-4s and still fly.

Cool. I never would have thought to do that.
I assume that you did that so that you could more easily do a mobile upload?
