TEB is back up with 6/24 plowed, runway 1/19 is still closed but expected to re-open at 1200 local. The major 3 however aren't doing so well, closed with re-open status unknown.
Some people just shouldn't have passed the checkride. Or their last BFR. After you've been flying for a while there seem to be an abundance of these that come out of the woodwork.
Yeah, the highway was recently completed about 6 months ago. Most handheld GPS's don't have updated maps so it sends you all over the place on roads that don't exist anymore. Sigh.
New Uniden handhelds that is. The old ones worked great. The newer models are not nearly as durable and reliable as the older models, built in the late 90's.
Avoid Uniden handhelds. They make great base scanners (I own a BC780XLT which is one of the best scanners Uniden ever made), but their handhelds stink. I have the 92XLT and hate it.
Try to find a...
NetJet pilots are salaried.
Nice area. My dad just moved to Delray Beach off of Military, just south of Linton. We take our boat up to Boynton all the time. It's a great place.
Effectively it is controlled, it just isn't qualified as Bravo airspace. Like I pointed out earlier, it's a great way to see the city.
Huh? You can go up the east river any time you want. You just have to call LGA TCA (126.05) for a clearance. I hear people flying the east river transition all the time. It's a nice way to see the...
Happy birthday, Phil! Enjoy the day...it's gorgeous outside. :)
The Vertex Standard (Yaesu) I have now is much better than the iCOM I used to have. Better radio all around. A transceiver is really overkill if you're just looking for a scanner. You can pick up a...
A friend of my dad's had a job offer there flying the Falcon until NYT decided to dismantle their flight department and lay off all of the pilots, mechanics, and support staff. :(
$200/hr wet with an instructor isn't all that unreasonable these days. This obviously depends on the airplanes being used and the quality of instruction at the flight school. The flight school...
S-turns or being a real bone head. Could be both.
Should be fun fun fun! HPN is below mins and LGA just went into a full ground stop thru 1630z and will likely change to a GDP (ground delay program) then.
134.0 is DXR19 which is a low sector. IGN20 is the high sector for the area on 125.575, which hands off westbounds to ZNY's ETX 42 sector on 127.175.
Stuff south of there gets handed off from...
From a friend who flies the Q400 for Colgan. Note that this is his personal opinion, and not in any way a statement by or onbehalf of Colgan Air, Continental, or any other group/organization.
Yes. Let's just say I know a little too much about it.
No it's not. That controller works Islip now. The FAA forced him to either transfer to ISP or get fired, one or the other, after reviewing his demeanor on the frequency in many situations. The...
See http://www.faa.gov/data_statistics/acci ... dent/1549/ for all of the tapes released by the FAA. The Cab Coordinator had his hands full.
http://www.airnav.com lists the frequencies published in the Airport Facility Directories and will point you in the right direction.
The AI and HSI installed on both the left and right sides appeared to be meggitt displays. Cool videos.
Have a safe, healthy, and happy new year.
Best,
Nice! I just read in BCA that they received Brazilian certification last month and were awaiting FAA approval. This is going to be good competition in the VLJ market. I have a feeling it will...
