Well done, Adam!
Nice grab Adam!
Great rare catch Adam. For anyone else looking to grab a shot of N837AW she is operating US 1962 MSY-CLT-BWI today Monday May 12, arrives CLT at 1538 and departs at 1630.
Happy Spotting

Nice shots Adam and Moose

Steve Furst flew down to CLT this morning, and not wanting to disappoint him, we arranged for this visitor. With an assist from one of Adam's friends in Ops, we got a closer look...

Alright guys, I am going this weekend. My plan is to spend Friday night in Charleston and head out to CLT early on Saturday to get there mid morning, then head back early/mid morning on Monday.
Awesome! That is one nice heck of a catch.
N579UW the Brand New US A-321 delivered in American colors entered service last night (5-22) PHX-LAX-PHX. When I get to work I will verify the routing but as of last night today's planned routing is PHX-CLT-LAX arriving at 1708 on US 720 and departing at 1810 on US 721. If anyone wants a photo op I will update if this routing holds around 1300 EDT.

Killer shots Moose and killer catch!

Well I've been nearly a month backed up on editing, so I'll post some highlights from the latter part of May. It was great meeting Steve and being able to get him out on the airfield.

Nice, Adam! Save some of those specials for me when I get back!
Nice shots. Did you get 828 from the overlook or from the hill?
I think this was my lucky shot.

Moose, I'll try. No promises. We all know what happened with the C17:tongue:
Felipe, from the Overlook.
We probably missed each other by not too far away, I was with Steve closer to the 36 side of the overlook when 828 took off.
Nothing spectacular, trying to see how the Tokina 16-28 flares when exposed to direct light.

Here is another photo op alert N579UW the first US A-321 in the Amercian scheme will be passing thru CLT this afternoon (Thur 5-29) operating US 1908 LGA-CLT-ORD ETA 1657 ETD 1800 then (if no swaps occur) returning three times on Friday operating ORD-CLT-LGA-CLT-ATL-CLT-SMF (US 1910-1843-442) maybe some of you can catch it if you like.
Cheers

Everything changed for Fri 5-30 now operating LAS-CLT-SEA-CLT-LAS US 431-1710-643 I won't have updated routing access to around 1300L on Friday will post if anything changes. Got some nice shots of her up here in LGA today she sure is pretty.

Went to CLT for some races the past two weekends. Finally getting to editing some of my photos..here are a few from my second trip down. Of course they were on the 36s and not 18s.

Thanks Adam. Was great meeting you a few weeks ago. Looking forward to coming back down to CLT when i get some more free time.

There's more than just airplanes to shoot at the overview.
http://www.moose135photography.com/A...fly_001-XL.jpg
We got word that two former West jets, N826AW, the Arizona scheme, and N837AW, the Cardinals scheme, would be in and out of CLT, both leaving around 6pm. Sitting at the overview, watching a steady line of regular color US jets depart 18C, I see this, departing 18L.
http://www.moose135photography.com/A...7AW_001-XL.jpg
And then, the next plane out on 18L...

It was like they were taunting me...
Great shots Moose! Yesterday I contrail spotted LH428 MUC > CLT from Long Island. I was wondering if she was going to be spotted by you or the LH lady. lol
Arizona was in and out a couple of times today, and with a little help from a friend, I was able to catch her departing this afternoon.

With the new rules in place allowing CLT to re-open Rwy 23, we get a lot more instances of "Line up and wait" on 18C. Perfect opportunities to work on prop blur with the Dash 8s. At idle power, looks like you need about 1/50th of a second for a full disk. Handheld, at 400mm...

Just an aside, but I hate the "Line up and wait" command. "Taxi into position and hold" is something you do with an airplane. "Line up and wait" is something you do at Wal-Mart... ;-)
It still has that new airplane smell - N293AY, US Airways' newest A330, delivered on May 24.

Had to take a quick run out to the overview - heard from a friend at US that a friend of his was retiring, making his final flight into CLT today. He was shooting rampside, but was hoping someone could catch the landing. Seemed like a good excuse to get out of the office for an hour.

That's a great chance that you were able to catch a pilot's last commercial flight. Looks like you had some good luck with the sun and clouds.
That also happens to be my favorite aircraft, ship 273.

For reasons unknown, we had a gaggle of KC-135s in last week. I managed to catch one before it left. This is a KC-135T, which is the designation of the re-engined KC-135Q, which had a modified fuel system and was used to refuel the SR-71.

Went out to the Overview after work Friday, and got there just before it started raining. Departures were a mess because of storms, and for a while nothing could move - there were jets lined up waiting to depart, others lined up waiting for room on the ramp to get to their gates, airplanes shutting down, others returning for fuel, it wasn't pretty.

They sent LH down Rwy 23 to get to the active, but there was a gaggle of RJs waiting to get onto the ramp, and LH ended up back-taxiing down 18C to get around them.

Great shots as usual, John. I'm disappointed in myself not getting out to CLT that much this summer, but it's been crazy busy. Hope to be out there later this month with some luck for 838AW.
Thanks, Adam! Hope to see you out at CLT soon - well, I guess when you're back from Seattle...
Not CLT, but just up the road at Concord Regional Airport (JQF) on Sunday afternoon. Concord is home to most of the NASCAR team aircraft. Aerodynamics Inc. is doing race charter work for BK Racing on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. It had arrived from CVG this afternoon, following Saturday night's race at the Kentucky Speedway. It departed for Grand Rapids (GRR) shortly afterwards.

I can't find much on this Falcon 2000EX - it's blocked on FlightAware, so I don't know where it came from or where it was going to, and it's registered to Vee Jay Equipment in Clarkston MI. Googling that name primarily brings up aircraft registration databases with the Falcon listing...
It arrived at JQF around 2:45pm.

I was back out to CLT for a couple of hours Sunday evening. Again, storms to the west caused ATL Center to hold departures. It wasn't as much of a mess as Friday, but it got rough.

Love the first shot. I was trying to get shots like that last time I was down in CLT, unfortunately, I had no good batteries for any of my remotes and of course the nearest convenience store is like 20 minutes away. Will prepare better this time.
