Freddy Boom Boom Washington...?
Fonzi?
Well that is easily done by shutting down the parking lot, shooting at night and have security/SCPD working New Highway to keep traffic flowing and people out. And face it, just HOW QUIET can you keep it by flying in a B707? Really now. As soon as that badboy was on final tweets, texts, emails and postings would be flowing like crazy. And we could give a crap about the TV show filming. We just want to see the aircraft!!
And I believe its Mr. Woodmans plane so we are all in a heap of trouble. Detention I would say at the least.
Also with that all said and done.....what is the planes ETA?:tongue::eek:
Looks like late night probable... (weeping)
I don't see how that will be an issue as they will close New Highway when they are shooting and there won't be access for the public to hang around. No?
Looking at the sky now not much of a difference. It's horrid out there. How come when Whitebird is in Vegas they get sun and we get this?Quote:

Thank you Fred for the opportunity to see this beauty up close.

Now it looks like it will not be tonight.... Sorry folks
We are the same group of people who complain when we get kicked off of public property shooting, and find every excuse we can to get aviation information. Isn't this secret sharades thing a tad silly? We all know it is a privately held part 91 Boeing 707 with a 121 scheme already on it. Only one of those around. If this was supposed to be secret, the folks at SheltAir wouldnt say anything about it and it wouldnt be dribbled all over the internet.
When I was over at FRG on Friday for the EA-6B I saw 2 sets of photographers. 1 set was in a yellow mick-up near the end of the runway, and the other set was on the very corner of where the small planes are parked about midway down the runway .. either of those groups Fred or Moose? I was standing in the back of a grey Pick up on New Highway.
uMM.. Shelt air is not talking, I do not know where you get your info but do know why you do not like Shelt.
As per photographers, Moose and I were by the small planes.

Today we heard through the grapevine that Pan Am will be returning to the Republic Airport in Long Island next week. The show spent several days earlier this year filming the “Cuba” scenes from the pilot episode at the airport as well.
But, this time the shoot sounds even more intriguing because we’ve also heard they will be using a Boeing 707 owned by John Travolta in the scenes! From what we understand, it sounds like they will cover the plane in a vinyl wrap to give it the famous Pan Am markings, without having to actually paint it.
Filming is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night and rumor has it this time the airport will fill in for Haiti.
Just wondering as I am not familiar with take off requirements for the 707 but isn't that airplane a little "big" for KFRG's runway?
FRG's 14-32 is 6800' long and can handle the 707. FRG's issue....at least until the taxiway improvement project is done (if it's not already)...is the narrow taxiways and lack of clearance space. But it will probably be towed to parking from 1-19 after clearing 14-32. That is assuming they are filming over by the AAM?
What I am wondering is that for these "Haiti" scenes why not just use ISP? The old 40's era hangars at the west side would be a good stand, as they're very rustic looking nowadays. Also I think ISP is a bit more secure for keeping the unwashed masses away, plus JT has used the Excel Ramp right there before as we all know.
Most likley yes
From what I can see (just my opinion).............the bird has plenty of room. RWY 32-14 is 6833' x 150', and given the fact it doesn't carry passengers and baggage like in the olden days, the birds take-off weight would be far less.
I wonder what reg ID they are going to slap on the aircraft .... N707PA????
Negative Mark but I can not talk about it on an open forum...sorry
Mark, I do not have your contact info for some reason... When I lost my phone I also lost that info, Can you Send me a txt with your info please
The reg ID was just a SWAG, nothing more than that.
N88ZL has been at ACY for a month or more... I wonder why it was not available.
Good point, although why was it sitting in ACY? Has it flown at all? Maybe mechanical issue/check? It is a charter jet, after all.
I don't know, but like you suggest, that is certainly possible. Although it does have a history of extended idle time between assignments, but generally that is done in Florida. Perhaps they're committed to someone else this week...who knows. I hope it will be around for awhile longer with its new "bandit mask" livery.
Reading the warbird forum site regarding ABC/Pan Am looking for just the right airframe, I felt bad the guy was directed towards at least half dozen airframes without engines, or in some cases broken up years ago, not to mention tankers and cargo examples in the developing world. Not to disparage their knowledge otherwise, because they referenced a wealth of 707 information, but with exception of about one single post, they just seemed to miss the most obviously appropriate example. But N707JT will be a close enough approximation considering how little is out there...
Tom
Tom, interesting post. When you think about it, ZL would probably be a much more accurate option since the 138 was only flown by QF but I think only us geeks would notice that little aspect. Not to mention, ZL has the last version of that engine which if I am not mistaken doesnt have those "air vents"
Just throwing it out there, there would be a limitation for that aircraft. Have N88ZL ever been to FRG? Is it noise compliant? Does a different engine variation limit its ability to operate in and out of FRG? Cost or quality of repaint too expensive from the rich charter? There could be many variables that we don't see.
Maybe Travolta gave them the Friends & Family discount since "Kotter" used to be on ABC.
And the way the rating are falling for "Pan Am" we might not see much more of this so enjoy.

Manny and I were there earlier this evening hoping to catch the bird. We ended up leaving around 6:45pm and headed back for home. Hoping to catch it tomorrow after work.
...Fitting all this banter falls upon the date of the last Concorde service from NY. :D
Anyway, I drove by to see my beloved Ea6B parked over there. Keepin a wishful eye out for the 707
I was there with my spotting buddy for a little bit. I'm glad I refreshed the browser on the phone. Two nights in a row we struck out....
The spotting buddy does not care as he gets to say hair-plane all night.
