And hundeds of CANADIEN fans at the game. Whenever Le Habitantes visit L.I. their fans make the trek down by the busload to cheer on their team. I have a buddy who is a season ticket holder and says it is amazing to see.

I see you are enjoying your new "toy" Fred. Pictures look great, definately thinking of a gift from "me" to "me"
What bird do the Lightning use these days, used to be that red and white 737 no?
While Fred & Moose have been playing with the Coyotes B727, I grabbed this guy last week right before the snow flurries started.

Sweet John!
Sometime today or tomorrow the Pens should be flying in to play the Isles. This trip should be different because HBO is shooting their NHL special called 24/7. Maybe we can get some shots of the film crew, in addition to the plane? Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
Nope. According to Flightaware, an Air Canada A320 departed FRG yesterday at 9:37pm. I was hoping for a late afternoon departure, I might have had a chance of catching it.Quote:
Was that the Montreal Canadiens plane? They played Isles Sunday night. Probably didnt get out till sometime late Monday afternoon.
Montreal flew into FRG just as the snow started on the 26th. Atlantic's ramp was kaos at the time, and they were towed into their parking spot. Which, unlike a normal arrival, was parked tail first to the gate. The tow operator really did a great job as he had to angle it in between a G4 on the left wing and a Citation on his right wing. They had three wingmen walking it in, but slow and steady and it was a safe arrival.

Looking at this right now, I finally figured out how to post a picture on the forum realtime! I was always able to upload from my iPhone to my smug mug but now using the iPad I can post links easily.... Off to work now!
So I woke up at 3AM and being the elderly guy I am I headed to the bathroom. That was when I heard a sound outside and peeked out to see a helicopter cruising past to the NW at around
700 feet or so. Couldnt make it out but along with the usual anti-collision stobes it had a red pulse light on top and bottom. Delayed my "business" and put on my scanner and heard nothing about the copter but did hear a Lear jet (N5PT) inbound to FRG for Runway 3-2. Some real early morning activity.
Had some time to kill before going to my brothers so hung out at FRG for about an hour. Damn there is lots of snow there!! Using 1-9 and I parked by the Terminal for awhile. Usual traffic, touch and goes. Helicopter N1767 (R44 Raven) came in landed Atlantic, left to the shoreline and said they were returning soon. Was just about to head on the Southern State when I heard that a Boeing 737 was in the area at 4000 feet preparing to come in. It was the Buffalo hockey charter coming in so I set up by the movie theater off 110. Miami Air "Biscayne 3-2" came in soon after and looked very cool appearing in the distance in the cloudy sky, lights blazing.
And speaking of snow cant the crews at Atlantic find a better place to pile up the snow!! Cant see nuthin from the fence lines!!:smile::wink:
That 727 is DAL based... Every time I go to Dallas I see that jet parked there on overflow
I have not been posting many updates but I still have been shooting....sorry
Here is one from this morning...I just got my lens back from repair and now I have crazy purple fringing or CA. Looks like I will be sending it back in soon to get
it fixed again!

USAF C-21A 84-0118 arrived about 11:30am today, parked over at SheltAir. It's out of the 457th Airlift Squadron, 375th Air Mobility Wing, Andrews AFB.

Too bad this didn't happen during the day where someone could have got a good shot of it. Anyway I'm happy it turned out alright.

On February 9th, 2011, an Alitalia Boeing 767-300, registration EI-DDW performing flight AZ643 from EWR to FCO, was climbing out of EWR when the crew reported main gear trouble.
The crew intended to divert to JFK but seeked visual confirmation from the ground that the main gear was in fact down. The jet overflew Republic airport at 1600 feet and received positive feedback, then went on to perform a missed approach at JFK's runway 22R for a final visual report from the tower. It then landed at JFK's runway 22R.
Air traffic control recordings (source: liveatc.net) are of conversations with New York Approach (ROBER sector), New York Final Approach, JFK Tower and New York Departure.
Another day, another special...USA Jet Airlines MD-83, with the U2 Tour paint scheme. Unfortunately the sun was hiding when I got there. I expect they brought the Bostonians in to play the Islanders tonight. I hope someone got a shot without snow in the way...

I took almost an identical picture yesterday around 5:19, the plane was sitting there on Wednesday as well. By your comment, I guess that U2 wasn't in town. I had thought that Bono might have flown in for his Spiderman play in the city, didn't know that it was used by a sports team, oh well. When I had passed by again around 11ish it was gone.
I was there about an hour before you, Joe. I hadn't seen the MD in these colors before, but there is an Air Canada A320 with similar markings that has been into FRG once or twice on hockey charters. I think I've shot it, but can't find the photos right now.
I saw that plane as well, just over a year ago, this picture was taken on February 6th, 2010:

I didn't have a tripod on me and wanted to catch it prior to it's leaving, being so close to the airport, I heard it take off about 15 minutes later. These larger planes have a distinct sound to them over the normal jets that take off from Republic.
Miami Air bringing in the Panthers. Anyone know whose green helo that is?

And, not the best shot (barely missed the takeoff...), but I'm liking the paintjob on N501JG.

There were actually two Miami Air jets at FRG this afternoon. One for the Panthers, and one to take the Islanders up to Toronto for Tuesday's game.
I was able to catch it overhead:

Delta Connection CRJ-100 down near Atlantic...definitely not a hockey charter.

Might be taking Hofstra's hoops team to UNC Wilmington
[QUOTE=moose135;439151]Delta Connection CRJ-100 down near Atlantic...definitely not a hockey charter.
There was a US Navy King Air UC-12M that landed around 10:30AM and parked by Sheltair. The Quest Diagnostics Phenom 100 (N288DX) also parked
there looking pretty nice with its light green lines and insigna on tail. Now I know where my money goes when I get my tests. LOL!!
I missed the King Air, but saw the Quest jet, too much stuff in the way to shoot it. The CRJ arrived late Tuesday afternoon, nothing on FlightAware about a departure yet.
USCG 6507 came in after 11 and sat on the Atlantic ramp until leaving to ACY at 1:30. Earlier around 9:15 they flew over my house heading up North to do "Hover work" at 50 feet
or so. To ACY they went up to 4000ft IFR.
FAA Flight Check 69 landed after 12 and stayed till 1:30 over at Sheltair. They were heading to ACY also.
