the fence firmly with bolth hands....and it was VERY HOT AND WINDY!
(I would not recoomend doing this as there is active traffic behind!)
After he was 1/3 of the way down the runway, I was able to

Whats the story with this plane?
It would not be good as a Fire trainer as once the bird crap is washed away, the thing would
fall apart.
This has been there for years and I have lots of neat snow shots and lot of different fun
shots. I have watched it go from horrible to not worthy of a restoration! The back control
surfaces are rammed and crunched, the fuselage just forward of the horizontal stabs has a
BIG dent and crunch. It looks like the engines have not been run in about 8 years. The
glass is no longer transparent and the inside does not look good either. This plane is the
equivalent to the old Ford pickup that is half buried in the ground. It is really sad to see.
It is probably someone who can no longer fly but can not let go of the past...I can not
blame him......The places she has seen and the joyful lasting memories have in turn brought
her to this.....I am sure if the plane sucked....it would have been sold long ago!
Brings a tear to my eye :( EVERYTIME!
***In other words...I have no freakin clue of the story of this aircraft***
(translated from babbling gibberish)
Ya know ALL the times I've been to FRG and I've NEVER seen this aircraft.
Gerard, its usually parked over by the huge swooping curve on New highway.
Been there for years, a lovely old powdery blue bird.
ohh trust me.. the guy can fly.. and its actually been abondened.. one of our tennants is actually neighbors with the guy who owns that plane!!... its painted with house paint and you can see thru the fiberglass at certian points.. if you look around the alpha ramp there is about 4 derilic planes that have been "abondended" 2 by the fence by home depot.. and the 2 on our ramp by the dirt hill and that saberliner that is never going to leave b/c there dumb is 2 pipers which are getting auctioned off!!!
i've always seen it sitting there from the first day i started flying at FRG. i've heard multiple stories about it, each less true than the last. some made mention of the airplane being repossesed by it's owner from a lessor, the airplane being damaged as a result of a marital dispute, the airplane being straight up abandoned and even that it's pilot just died. who knows, but i wish someone would do something about it. it rreally hurts seeing the airplane look like that.Quote:

LOL probably why I havent seen it, concentrating on driving instead of plane watching. But I have noticed some old birds in that group.
It was a busy afternoon at FRG. In the space of about 20 minutes, we had two interesting photo ops. For starters, the Kalitta 727 horse hauler departed:

Right after they left, a Navy P-3 Orion dropped in for a few touch & goes. They are assigned to of VX-1 Test and Evaluation Squadron out of NAS Pax River.

I have to thank Fred for the heads up on this one!
That P3 hit ISP for a T&G thought he was going to do pattern work but he headed West. Lemme guess Moose he hit FRG about 2:55-3:00pm??? I was in the car headed back to the office when I saw him...unfortunately got a very poor shot of him climbing away (far away) from ISP.
That's exactly when they showed up. They did 3 T&Gs then departed.
Here is one of my keepers.... Do you thing it may make Jetphotos?

Just eyeballing it, looks like it needs a little CCW rotation, although that could just be your angle with the horizon.Quote:

Thanks guys.
Hell, it's all the same airframe. :P
Yesterday, these Marines called the control tower due to suspicious person near a tan car taking pictures.

I hope someone told those fellas that in this country, you are allowed to take pictures of airplanes.
So what were the two Aero Vodochody jets (N7511Q and N4207W) doing at FRG/Sheltair on Saturday? They were parked by the parking lot fence
and had covers over the cockpit. Went by today and they were gone. They looked pretty neat.
You mean these two?

http://moose135.smugmug.com/photos/3..._HqV6j-M-1.jpg
They are local, based out of the AAM. N4207W has been around for a couple of years, and N7511Q was just obtained in May, a week or so before the airshow. In fact, if you notice, the paint on N4207W is shiny, while N7511Q is more of a flat finish. That's because 07W was repainted after arriving in the States, while 11Q is more or less fresh off the Czech AF flight line.
Here they are, side-by-side inside the AAM, a few days before the Memorial Day airshow.

The AAM.. had to bring them over to our side b/c they were getting that big blue flying boat out (not sure what it is), but i know it didnt go flying b/c last time i was over there it was missing a few peices... those 2 L-39's are usually kept inside the hangar!
That's the PBY Catalina. She is undergoing restoration at the museum - they got her from the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, NY in November 2006. I wasn't able to get out there to shoot the move, but I know someone who was there :wink:Quote:
