I saw the MiG 23 (red bull) fly over. So I guess the times are right.
MiG 17...got in sometime between 11am (when I left FRG) and 3pm (when I took another ride over). Fred was there and got shots of him landing.Quote:

Todays debrief
The MiG 17 and Red bull chopper is located at Sheltair, the Red bull Edge has yet to arrive(does anyone have any info?)
The L-39 did some flying around Jones Beach
Team Oracle is in located at Sheltair and they also did some flying.
There will be no Red Bull edge. Kirby Chambliss has pulled out of the air show to concentrate on the Air Races.Quote:

They were right and the T-birds support plane was a C-130 "The Rock", The came twice and they are gone now
The T-birds came today around 12:30
I heard over my scanner that they were supposed to take off at 2 and land at 3 but they never did and there is a slim chance they will take off
Sean Tucker took off various times today
The air traffic controller was having issues with the planes because they were only operating on 1/19 most of the time, and the main terminal was limited to military aircraft.
We most likely will not see the Horsemen until Friday a.m.
I spoke to Jim Beasly on the WIX board and thats when he advised he will be at FRG as he is in the office all week. He couldn't provide a practice time slot for them.
Pete
Anyone going to be around FRG tomorrow to catch the arrivals? I'm planning to head out there, feel free to PM me if anyone wants to meet up.
Also; is it ok to pull over on New Highway and take pictures or will NCPD frown upon that? Or would my best bet be going inside the AAM (if there open to the public)?
The SCPD lets you pull over.Quote:

Republic is one of the friendliest spotter airports out there. It won't be all that crowded tomorrow but Thursday-Sunday will be a mad house.
Sean Tucker filling up Oracle 2. Insert Joke here_____

Thanks guys! Any idea what runways they'll be using for tomorrow?
Everyone (except military) will be using 1/19 due to the temporary arresting gear installed on 14/32.
Got the chance to get over to the airport before the Thunderbirds came in....
Here are some shots I took....

Since there was nothing going on I went for a little bit today and here is what happened
Golden Knights-no show
Ed Hamill-Still no show
Team Oracle- various media flights
Thunderbird #8 was not at the main terminal the whole day I was there which is pretty weird.
Thunderbird 8 is having mechanical issues and is over at the Talon hanger off Rt. 109. I tried to get a picture of it over the fence but I just couldn't get the angle or lighting.
I saw them towing it over there yesterday. I would think that it has to be something pretty big for them to take it in the hanger. They've got 5 days to get it fixed I guess...Quote:

I'm pretty sure its a single seater I got to look at some pictures, and I didnt see any media flights today.

I just saw it at FRG -- its a two seater but it has the personal effects pod on it (don't know if that make a difference)
BTW I just want to say thank you to John and Fred--for talking to me and my son and also taking some behind the fence photos for me :borat:

I thought Moose liked the cold? The Golden Knight aircraft also was in by Sheltair. Was going to head out when I spied the Kalitta
Charters 727 cruising northbound just east of FRG setting up for Runway 1-4. Watched them land, then taxi in.then left
BTW the TBirds looked pretty nice sitting in the late afternoon sun. This should be a nice weekend.
Hey guys... it was nice to meet some of you, see again others and Look forward to meeting the rest! Here is one more
shot that I took a little while ago.....

Well, enough of that, I need to go shoot the T-Birds now... 8)
The T-Birds brought 8 birds in, 6 single seat and a pair of 2-seaters. After the team was in, they towed one of the station wagons to the south end, but there is still another that was used for media flights Tuesday afternoon/evening, and scheduled Thursday as well. Did you actually see them working on the a/c, or could it be they just moved it off the ramp to keep it out of the way if they're not planning to fly it for a few days?

It was just sitting in the back on the left side with no activity around it.
I saw on this website http://www.freewebs.com/nyairshow/jonesbeachairshow.htm that the Snowbirds are due to arrive at 6:00AM. Does anyone think this will be the case or do you think they'll come in a bit later?
And for the arrival of the A-10 and F-18 whic his supposed to be around 8:00 AM, do you think they'll be on 14-32 or 1-19?
Longislandaviation.info changed the times later(check again), as far as the F-18 and A-10 I think its a 50/50 chance of 14/32 or 1/19 my guess is 14/32 but thats just a guess.Quote:

Take the A-10 & F/A-18 arrival times and guess. The Golden Knights, due in 8:00AM today arrived this afternoon.
The A-10 can use either runway, F/A-18's will use 14/32.
Tuesday 14/32 was closed to all traffic except military aircraft and the C-130 went out on 1/19.
Good luck.
Fred
On my page it's still showing up the same; I'll check a bit later.
Also does anyone know if KFRG ATIS has a phone number like JFK ATIS? My scanner doesn't seem to be working correctly : [
As far as # 8 is concerned, on Tuesday it was towed over to the hanger. Word around the airport today was it is mechanical, but I can't say for sure.

LOL I gotta tell you if they buzz into FRG and the surrounding area at 6AM they are going to piss a lot of people off!!! :x
Lol nothing like a low-highspeed pass to wake everyone up an set every car alarm off. :D
Yeah, I wish they were coming at 6 rather than 12-1.
Yea talk about awesome lighting. That dark amber colored-early morning rays of sunlight....
