It could very well be split where the Isles will go to/from FRG because it's near the team facilities and road teams go to/from EWR or LGA (much like the Knicks/Rangers using HPN, while road teams use not-HPN).

Tomorrow is the funeral for NYPD PO Brian Moore and there is a good chance FRG will be used as a staging point for law enforcement helicopters that will fly in the Ceremonial Fly By. This was the case a few years ago when they all gathered by the ramp of the Northeastern hangar.
As Gerard said, I'm hearing about a LOT of helicopters, mostly PD choppers from other areas, gathering at FRG in preparation for the NYPD Officer's funeral. Would be a great chance to snag some unique ones, along with any formations they fly.
Yeah, looked like it was 10 -ship flyover from what I saw at a distance!!
Update: Just saw on News 12 it was actually a 9-ship flyover
Just caught a Hawkeye 2000 on final for 19 from the backyard. Sorry couldn't identify squadron due to low ceiling.
Anyone happen to know if it's still there? Perhaps they were visiting Grumman?
Pretty busy over by Atlantic today around 1PM, arrivals, departures and lots of jets being parked along the back fence!! Must be planty of high rollers coming in for the Belmont Stakes!! Sheltair was getting a faior share of traffic also.
The brand new Hendrick's Gin "Flying Cucumber" Blimp is lit up at FRG right now.
I heard it should be leaving early in the morning.
Here's a video of it being built:

Here's a Daily News article about them giving media rides in the "Flying Cucumber"
today at FRG and how you can try to possibly win a ride on the Blimp also

awesome! Saw it coming in the other day on the horizon. Great Gin!
Any hard details on when its due to return?
Weather permitting I was told it's due back at FRG sometime tonight
because it's supposed to be doing more VIP rides tomorrow morning.
It will be flying over NYC on Sat. night for a party they're hosting and
again on Sunday to celebrate National Cucumber Day also.
Some drama at Republic today around 2:20. A Piper PA-25 (N225AB) was flying a banner tow when he flew into IMC on the south shore and became disoriented!! He contacted Republic Tower and wanted to drop the banner and land!! There was a discussion about where exactly he wouid drop it and they finally decided on the grassy part of the east end of Runway 1-4. Pilot came in dropped low, let the banner loose and came around and landed safely, parking at the Main Terminal. The small ARFF truck went out to the banner then an operations truck drove out the pilot and they retrieved the banner!! They wound up stuffing the banner and some poles in various parts of the Piper Pawnee and after spending some time in the building the pilot came out, cranked up and slowly took off One Nine south.
Listening to other pilots of the radio there was a lot of haze and a marine layer in areas of the shoreline that dropped the ceiling down to 400 feet!! Pilot looked fairly young and must have decided the hell with this let me drop and land and gather my wits and chill for awhile!!
Update: The Flying Cucumber Blimp is getting ready to land at FRG right now.
Thanks for the arrival info. I missed this post. But I took a ride out last night at 8:30 and she was beautiful in the twilight. Got some shots. Any news at one time it departs parts today? Looks pretty funny right now and I'm not sure if it would leave this morning
Just drove by. Nice shots and looks like they were prepping for a flight. Perhaps it will still be by later..
The accident on New Highway was a double fatality.
Yeah, read the sad story about the double fatality accident here:
http://patch.com/new-york/farmingdal...campaign=alert
Curious how this happened as it was a single car incident. That section of New Highway turns into the Daytona 500 for some drivers!! I've been doing 50 (the speed limit) and had clowns speed pass me!! Was he speeding and lost control, did someone speed past him and caused him to panic and lose control? Mechanical or medical? Guess we will find out eventually but very sad for both the father and his son!!
The Flying Cucumber was sitting there at 3PM when I went past.
The Flying Cucumber Blimp should be based at FRG until Wed. and then I heard it will be heading out to FOK.
A USMC UH-1Y "Red Dog Eight One" flew in from the east over the landfill and landed at Sheltair!! Crew of 9 on board!!

Nice catch Gerard
Thanks Fred!! I was just about to leave and was over by the Talon hangar when I heard the Tower talking to "Dog Eight One". With that call sign just knew it was military but not sure if
fixed wing or helo. Luckily I wasnt in a rush to go anywhere so got to the lot in the mall just as they were coming in.
Just watching CNN and Trump is in Scotland and he was getting off his S-76 helicopter!! Lighter coloring, still has TRUMP on the tail boom but its now registered in the United Kingdom as G-TRMP.
Wonder if its the same Sikorsky he used here or a different one he uses when visiting the UK.
The C-47A "Whiskey 7", the D-Day veteran, arrived at FRG this evening for the AAM Labor Day Weekend Event.
Here's the AAM Event flyer:

Looks like we will probably still get hockey charters at FRG!! Islanders announced they bought out the Twin Rinks in Eisenhower Park and will be using that as their new training facility!! Beautiful facility (both my sons play in an adult hockey league there) that had gone bankrupt!! Wang to the rescue!!
Not sure if the Islanders are using Swift again this year, but most NBA teams who visit the Barclays Center use Newark Airport
and I would think most of the visiting NHL teams will do the same this year. The Islanders will probably use Newark if they are
traveling right after a home game and Republic whenever they fly back home or travel after practice on an off day.
With Cablevision being sold to French-israeli telecom group Altice I wonder what is store for their Flight Dept which hangars at FRG!! The owner of Altice already has hinted at changes and is known for sending in teams of executives after an acquisition to cut costs and it seems like in any sale/merger the flight dept is first to get hit!! Dolan will continue to keep hold of MSG and AMC so he'll probably keep at least one of the Sikorskys and G-IV. Stay tuned!!
The Islanders are using Swift Air again this year and they are scheduled to depart FRG
today around noon for their preseason game up in Halifax, Nova Scotia this evening.
