Awesome that they'll be more thunder in 2015! And not to get ahead or over shadow this summer but the Blues announced their 2016 schedule and they will be at Jones Beach and Coney Island! Hopefully based at Republic for both!
And it also appears that the AAM will be doing what they are calling "a salute to the end of WWII" which I am SPECULATING will include a return of "FiFi."
The show should be good this year. This is who we have so far:
- US Army Parachute Team Golden Knights
- USAF Thunderbirds
- CF-18 National Demo Team
- Breitling Jet Team
- GEICO Skytypers
- John Klatt Airshows, Inc./Air National Guard
- John Klatt Airshows, Inc./Jack Link's Beef Jerky
- Sean D Tucker - Aviation Specialties
- American Airpower Museum
FYI- the CF-18 Demo Team's website has updated their 2015 schedule and it now shows
the Rochester Air Show instead of the Jones Beach Air Show for Memorial Day weekend. :frown:
Hopefully Jones Beach will still be able to get either the F-18 Legacy or Super Hornet Demo
once the 2015 NAVY F-18 TAC DEMO schedules are posted soon ... Fingers crossed !

Nice to have the Birds back. Unfortunately my drives can no longer read the CD where I saved my Thunderbird photos to from their last appearance(2009?). %@#!
Check the bottom surface of the disc. Look for any fingerprints in the data area, as those can easily render the disc unreadable. A soft damp cloth can usually fix that quickly. But be very careful not to scratch the disc while doing so. Then try mounting the disc again and if you succeed in accessing the disc, try copying the data a little at a time back to your main drive.
US NAVY TAC DEMO (VFA106) CONFIRMED FOR JONES BEACH.
Posted to their FB page.
Oh...they will be at Brooklyn as well.
Think we'll ever get the F-35 to make an appearance, or have the B-1B Lancer make a return? STILL dying to see a B-2 in person :D
I expect we'll see an F-35 once they are in wider service. I doubt we'll see another B-1 or a B-2, but never say never.
Maybe we'll see a Thunderbird or two drop by FRG for a Recon flight soon?
Why is it that the Thunderbirds never stay at FRG when nearly all the other military teams do? Does the F-16 require that much longer of a runway than the Hornets & other aircraft that fly in?
Great news, according to the 2015 CAF Air Power History Tour Schedule that was just posted,
the following CAF Warbirds are scheduled to be at the AAM from May 20th to May 24th
B-29 Superfortress "FIFI"
B-24 Liberator "Diamond Lil"
P-51 Mustang "Gunfighter"
SB2C Hell Diver
C-45 Expeditor "Bucket of Bolts"

On their FB page they state they have pushed the show start time back to 12:30pm this year.
Complaints from the neighbors about AM noise? Show shorter this year?
Well now they have it as 12:00PM to 5:00PM as the times for the show.
That later show is going to be a pain in the butt...

Yes it sure is! With the old time, the headline act would pretty much be wrapped up by ten to 3pm. Hang out on the beach for another hour or so, and casually make your way back to the parking lot where a good deal of the cars were already on their way. Be home by 5:30 to shower and make it to a BBQ party. Now with the headline act wrapping up at 5pm, the sun will be going down, most of the crowd will have been at the beach since 9AM (you will still have to get there by 9 or 10 AT THE LATEST before the lots are full) and everyone will want to leave at 5pm. Making plans post show ain't gonna happen. My sincere hope is that they put the 'Birds on at around 2 or 3pm at the latest and wrap the show up with the F-18 or Breitling Jets. I'll stay for the full show but most people coming to see the T Birds will split before that.
Yes that 12 PM starting time will be interesting in how people arrive!! Most people will probably ASSUME the show starts at 10 due to past shows and get there early!! They really need to get it out via media and social network of the later time!! Not sure it will matter but if its a sunny/ hot day I can see people leaving even before the TBirds come on!!
I agree w/Moose, the T-Birds or Angels have always been the Finale in my experience. And as others have said, yes... it's going to make for a long day at the beach, hopefully it will be warm & sunny but not too hot!
Fifi, Diamond Lil, and the other CAF aircraft are scheduled to arrive at the AAM on Monday, May 18, and the museum is planning to be open all week leading up to air show weekend.
Anyone confirm Yea? or Nay? TBirds at will be based at Republic. Thanks.
Nothing official, but I've been hearing JFK...
I got confirmation that the T birds will be based at ISP with either a C130 or a C17 as their support a/c.
Any word on if the F-18 will still be based out of FRG? I just recently moved to the area and I'm bummed the T-birds won't be staying here this year.
Know it's a requirement for the Thunderbirds, but why do they need arresting gear? They don't have hooks right?
All of the fighters have the hook. On the F-16 it looks like a lipstick on a wire. F-15's, you name it. They can not land on a carrier as it would probably not be sufficent strength and will probably break. But if it held it would likey Screw the airframe so it will never fly again.
