MH 370 offically declared an accident.

So I heard on the news today that Malaysian Airlines 370 was officially declared an accident.

A good part of me wants to believe this. But without any proof? What are your thoughts on the matter?

I think it's mostly for legal reasons, so families can file insurance claims and take care of other business.

Moose is right, it must be for insurance purposes. However, I agree that those lives have been lost and I really hope they do eventually find the wreckage, so that the family members can have closure and bury their loved ones. I feel terrible that they have been denied this for so long.
