GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Jets have pulled off one of the most stunning trades in their history, acquiring Brett Favre from the Packers late Wednesday night. The Jets outbid the Bucs for the 38-year-old Favre, whose arrival means the departure of 32-year-old Chad Pennington.
The story was first reported by FoxSports.com and confirmed by the Jets shortly after midnight. The Jets were said to have made a better offer than the Bucs earlier in the day. It is believed the Jets traded a fourth-round pick in 2009, although the pick could go as high as second-rounder based on the team's performance.

Re: Brett Favre traded to the Jets
He's an upgrade over Pennington I guess, but the way this whole situation has been covered you'd think he was Joe Montana...and he's definitely not. He's won a handful of big games, and lost number of big games, too. Let's see how he handles being harassed by 30 reporters after the Jets are 1 and 2 rather than the three that cover Green Bay.
Re: Brett Favre traded to the Jets
Looks like he is flying into NJ later for a News Conference then out to Cleveland. Flying in a private jet so probably landing Teterboro.
Can we get a reporter out there?

Well wrong again. He flew into Morristown then boarded helo N80NY for a fly-by of the new stadium under construction
in the Meadowlands (no truth to the rumor that the new stadium will be named after Brett). Then back to MMU and onto
his jet and off to Cleveland. Oh and he started in Mississippi this morning.

And keeping with the aviation theme of this Off-Topic
The jet was the private Cessna Citation of Jets owner Woody Johnson and departed FRG Thursday morning near 6AM with the Jets GM aboard.
Pretty interesting that, at least by me and I'm 6 miles north of FRG, it was pretty foggy that time of the morning.
