Great shots, everyone! It was good to see so many people out for the arrival today. Tommy, very nice work, glad you were in town to catch her this time. And thanks for the heads up on the runway use.
A three hour trip back to Pennsylvania, and dial-up access means I won't won't be posting any photos for a day or two.
Great shots everybody and I regret being unable to get the day off from work. But despite work the Beast was visible with the naked eye from our Ramp Tower at LGA, and biniculars gave us a pretty nice view.
The local TV news coverage had some interior shots that where simply amazing, much more plus than Singapore.
Cheers

Surprisingly, one of the local stations out of Wilkes-Barre, PA just showed a clip of the A380 landing at JFK on the local news. Just a short clip showing the touchdown and landing roll, looked like it was shot by one of the NY news helicopters, but still interesting to see it get covered out here in the sticks.
Excellent shots, all!
It was a pleasure meeting some of you folks today. Special thanks to Phil, who in all probability saved the day for me. Had I been flying solo, I'd probably have stayed camped out by 31R and would have missed the arrival.
With the Mounds view, it's tough to get a unique angle but here's my best shot of the day - pity about the clouds, but it could have been worse:

Of course I wasn't going to get any sleep if I didn't go through a few of my shots, here are a couple I managed to shove through the phone line...

Glad I stayed down on the soccer field - these were shot at the short end of my 100-400, without much cropping.

There was from what I have seen and read a lot of media coverage for this event (TV, newspapers).Quote:

It seems this ship was visible from all parts of the 5 boroughs!! LOL
I'm glad I left work early. Its funny, the 22s come over Hicksville fairly low and as I was walking to my car I heard the dull roar of an approaching arrival but one look up told me that this was NOT your average jet. It had
this look of power and grace as it slowly cruised by. What a beauty.
Here's mine. Thanks to Phil for the 22L heads up.
