It's going to be more difficult to catch her if she's really going international....
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
i think that she's the first boeing to have pink bent wings installed!
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
This is actually the LAX-JFK portion of this flight, N610DL does not fly transatlantic,
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!

Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
Winglets have nothing to do with being able to fly internationally. 757s were flying across the pond before winglets on the 757 were even conceived.
What does matter, specifically in terms of transatlantic/transpacific over-water flying, is a valid ETOPS certification which ship 610 does not have. There are only a handful of 757s in the Delta fleet that are ETOPS capable: ships 6801 thru 6817 (the ex-AA planes) and ships 6901 thru 6904 (the ex-Singapore/ATA aircraft).
Additionally, N610DL, being an early-build 757, does not have the proper wing structure to support winglets. That is to say, the aircraft will never be fitted with them.
Sorry Mark!
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
Thanks Chris! That explains it all!!!

so sad... :(
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
There's a growing chance that some of the older 757s could face retirement soon, especially as they come due for heavy maintenance checks. A lot of airlines are doing this. Even though the plane is in relative good shape, rather than pay the millions upon millions of dollars to overhaul it, it makes sense - at least financially - to park/sell the plane until the economy improves.
Look at what JetBlue did. They flew brand new planes for a while, but when it came due for heavy maintenance, they re-marketed it to another airline who also paid for the overhaul as part of the purchase contract. In the case of a 25+ year-old 757, chances are they'll probably just be parted out or converted to freighters.
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
Damn - if 610 goes - I sure hope Delta places the colors on another aircraft!
Re: Delta Pinky reall goes International!
I'm sure they will, Mark. Plenty of birds due for repainting - especially those ex-NW planes! ;-)
