Anyone up for some blizzard plane spotting today?
So we're getting a foot of snow in the next few hours and school's out for the week. Would anyone be willing to do some spotting in the area around KEWR today or tomorow? I imagine the visiility will be poor, but watching a plane land during a storm is something that sounds very entertaining to watch. There was a passenger video a few weeks ago showing a midrange plane taking off with full left ailerons durig a blizzard. I doubt the ailerons will be visible to spotters from 1kft, but it still is intriging.

This storms a bust so far on LI. All rain....which is good for those of us who have to shovel.

The snow line around 4PM was Hicksville and just barely. All rain east of that.

I did a semi blizzard plane spotting few years ago, it sucks big time for photography as you will be spending more time keeping the equipment dry then watching planes.
If you are really up for it, I would recommend you go to LGA central terminal building, build yourself a big coffee, sit down and relax in front of the the many big windows. Snow cleaning ops can be interesting to watch.
Just don't forget during the storms, traffic level are drastically reduced.
