U.S. indirectly paying Afghan warlords as part of security

The U.S. military is funding a massive protection racket in Afghanistan, indirectly paying tens of millions of dollars to warlords, corrupt public officials and the Taliban to ensure safe passage of its supply convoys throughout the country, according to congressional investigators.

The security arrangements, part of a $2.16 billion transport contract, violate laws on the use of private contractors, as well as Defense Department regulations, and "dramatically undermine" larger U.S. objectives of curtailing corruption and strengthening effective governance in Afghanistan, a report released late Monday said.

Yeah, as I have said for years. If we really wanted to find Osama we can. We just chose not to. I have always wonder if our goverment was still Allies with him and had something to do with 9/11. But I will leave it at that for another thread.

Err we've been doing this for nine years since the first CIA and special forces guys landed in Afghanistan in October 2001.

Also, Congress talking about "curtailing corruption and strengthening effective governance" in another country is hysterical.

Its either we buy them out or we kill all of them. Bribes are a far less messy. If we really want to win this we do what we did to the American Indians. You go into the villages, round them up, walk them 1000 miles, and place them on managed reservations.
