Just a general question.......what day(s) do you foresee the international arrivals coming in for the UN session? This should be a great week for spotting. Thanks in advance.
Usually the weekend before - Sept 18 & 19 - should be when most of the arrivals come in.
Im planning to come on one of those days to shoot out
Yippie, more work :frown:
I'd be up for spotting on one or both of those days as well if anyone's interested.
And do we know when POTUS will address the UN? I'd like to try to get a good picture of Marine One. I think it'll be Tues or Weds, but not sure, and it's too early for the TFRs to come out.
I'll be closely watching from my home on the AOA. My film camera cant handle these fast moving shots very well. Not to mention my range limitation.
It's September already and no one's even mentioned UN Week until now. I'm hoping to get out there and enjoy it this time around.
The big concentration for TFRs should be the 21st to the 25th. An unusual Saturday (which of course we just love to come in on weekends) is included. I would expect a big push out on the 26th with a few stragglers making it an extended weekend
I'll be out there this year as well. Hoping to get 4 days out of it and more VIP aircraft then last year.
Phil
I just noticed this thread about UN Week! What kind of aircraft or airlines are expected to JFK on top of what already comes in? I'm hoping it's something like what I just experienced this summer with the G20 in YYZ. Hope you can help, all the best, Kelli:smile:
I will miss the start of the hit parade on Monday. Hopefully there wont be much. I'll be landing at JFK on the 21st at about 9 AM and before the gear comes down on the way in I'll be getting my gear ready. I will probably spend a good portion of the day roaming around a few spots on property so if you have my BBM or phone number hit me up. Depending on the predominate runways used this week I will either be around JFK or I will bee rooftop from home (if the 31's are in use) though. And yes Tommy, I will have a beer in my hand! :p
Should be pretty fun. I'll be stalking the weather all week to plan.
Hello all:
I am an aviation enthusiast from Canada who would be interested in knowing what is expected to arrive for UN Week next week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there an advanced warning of what is coming and would it be posted on this website in advance. Hope to hear from all fellow aviation enthusiasts in the NYC area, thanks B77WYYZ:smile:
UN Week offers nothing in advance. Only a portion of the flights that come in show up on the trackers. But, we know they're coming. This is like fishing, and we know that a school of huge fish will be passing through our stream at a certain time. You just gotta show up and enjoy what comes!
I'll definitely be spotting and hoping to catch some of those big fish..........hook, line and sinker!
Don't forget that LGA Kid's Day is that same weekend. Do any VIP's land at LGA? Maybe we would could spot some? Probably the PA will again close Rwy 4/22 since it's so close to where Kid's Day is held.
Thanks Phil
It almost sounds like I need to take the week off to catch some of the traffic coming through. I guess you don't know if there is any specific day it might be heavier in volume of UN traffic.
When does the UN Session actually kick into action? And do you have any forecast for the upcoming weather? I'd hate to come down if its raining! LOL, thanks B77WYYZ.
And right now, the forecast is for very good weather Saturday and Sunday - mostly sunny, and temps in the mid to upper 70s.
Looks like we have our first potential UN VIP coming today (according to the trackers)
Kuwait Government A319CJ or A310. MMMX-KJFK ETA (scheduled 3:18PM arrival)

Hi, all. I presume it is safe to assume that updates will be posted here? I hope to make it out this weekend as the forecast looks great and I have never been out for VIP week. However, I can only be free EITHER this weekend or next. Which would allow for more VIP catches??? This weekend, I can be out Saturday until about 3 and Sunday all day.
Thanks, all. Looking forward to meeting some new people. I'll be the guy with the black Ford Focus and the Canon gear.

You should see more this weekend - everyone will be arriving for the General Assembly session next week, and they tend to come in over the course of a few days. Obviously they will all depart again, but it is usually a little more spread out, as some leaders may spend more or less time in NYC, or may make other stops (DC, etc.) while they are in the US.
I saw two today. No Pictures though. :(
One looked to be an a319, could not make out the gov't as I was sitting in traffic on Peninsula blvd and the other was the Kuwait A310.
Both the Kuwait Gov't A319CJ and A310 have arrived into JFK today. The A319CJ was ferried to KHPN while the A310 went to KSWF.

Exciting. NOt sure if I will head on on Sat. Sunday is a 50.50 toss. Might take the family out OR head to greenport.
Either way, look forward to the pics. Looks like there is great weather abound! What runways can we predict would be used?
I had a great time with my son last year. Spent the entire day out at Bayswater with him by the water, kicking a soccer ball around and taking photos. Good times together.
Hey all...
Looks like Cederholm and myself will be coming up this weekend. Looking to bum a ride from the hotel to any spots if anyone is going to be around JFK or LGA...there's beer in it for ya! Feel free to email me at: [email protected]
UN week is awesome, look fwd to hanging with the NYC guys (and gals) again!

It looks like there's a private A319 enroute to JFK from Stansted with an ETA of 1130am this morning, which then has a flight plan filed to go right to Westchester after the drop-off.
The "airline" listed is Daimler Chrysler, which means it's probably A319CJ D-ADNA. Go get her!
There actually might be two planes from Daimler. I think they only have one A319, but two of them are showing up as that type. Maybe one is an error and it's their Global Express? Hmmmm.
There were two German A319CJ's at HPN this morning.
Went up to Stewart for the Kuwait A310 and was surprised by the sight of 5 Moroccan aircraft on the ground.
There's a B744, a B762, a B738 all belonging to RAM and two Moroccan AF C130's.
The Boeings are parked on the bottom ramp and the 2 Hercs are parked between the terminal and the runway.
Interesting to hear that the Moroccan's brought their whole entourage this year, although that means they also generally bring a security detail with them. Mark, did you notice any security cars around the aircraft?
It's good to hear there is already a 747-400 up there, the upper part of the main runway is under construction and apparently some aircraft have opted to go elsewhere because of that. However there has been a Singapore A340-500 and Lufthansa A340-600 diverted to SWF in the past couple of nights so perhaps it really is not much of a problem.
From flightaware it looks like the Kuwait A319 is being ferried from HPN to SWF today.
South Korean Gov't B747-400? may be inbound to JFK this evening:

Can anyone in the Seattle area can confirm its this aircraft:

According to my ACARS server, flight KAL8257 is the 747-400 freighter HL7600.

I am unable though to get near Seatac in order to visually verify prior to departure.

Gordon,
No security vehicles seen near the Moroccans at all.
If you can get a tail number on the 738, I would appreciate it.
Mark
So if I had to choose between spotting tomorrow or spotting on Sunday, which would be better for UN traffic, do you think?
Looks like the Turkish Government A319CJ will be arriving overnight at JFK :frown:

I hope its delayed for an arrival tomorrow.
