Really sad story. One found dead so far, still looking for the 12 others.
Doesn't look too good for them.

Yeah, these guys are trained to tap on anything to let rescuers know where they are. No one has heard any tapping. :(
The other 12 ****in lived!! Wow. That is great. Wow.
So sad for the sole fatality, but wow.
Wow. I just heard it on the radio and was about to post it.
Sad my arse! Everbody was expecting everybody to be dead, I can not wait to read how these boys lived through this ordeal...Quote:

Geez, this has to be the worst feeling in the world, hoping for the miracle that your loved ones made it, hearing that the miracle happened, only to later find out, that the miracle did not take place....Quote:

TALLMANSVILLE, W.Va. - In a stunning and heartbreaking reversal, family members were told early Wednesday that 12 of 13 trapped coal miners found were dead — three hours after they began celebrating news that they were alive.
The devastating new information shocked and angered family members, who had rejoiced with Gov. Joe Manchin hours earlier when a rumor began to spread that 12 miners were alive. Rescue crews found the first victim earlier Tuesday evening.
A lesson for the media to be more careful when reporting unconfirmed information. I heard it on the radio, ran to the computer, then noticed one particular line in the AP story I was reading:
"The reports were not immediately confirmed by the owner of the mine or the governor's office."
Its a double hit of the families.
Imagine being told 12 lived, 1 died but the reverse, exact reverse was true.
And from what I understand, some newspapers printed this out as well. So those are going up on ebay most likely.
Truly a sad event. Minning is such a deadly job, since 1900 over 100,000 miners have died in their line of work.
