KCLT - 8/26/2014: Air Force 1

President Obama visited Charlotte today, to speak at the American Legion national convention. Fortunately, the boss understands my addiction, so I worked from home and went "off the radar" for a few hours.

Waiting for the arrival with another CLT spotter - Charlotte police helicopter made a sweep of the approach path, then spotted us. He made about six low orbits over us, checking us out. I guess they liked what they saw, as we didn't get a visit from a cruiser.

C-17A 07-7176 out of Dover. It arrived Monday with support equipment, and parked on the cargo ramp, nicely positioned to photograph.

I was going to head back home and do some work, but all the traffic was between the airport and my place, so I hung around the Overlook until they departed.

Nice shots and lighting on AF1. Great catch of that Bell 407, what a tiny reg it has!

Yes that is interesting!! Thats an old school location but the B407 is fairly new!! Usually the N #s are on side of the cabin
or tail boom.

Excellent shots! I was out on the patio a few months back when he was headed to IAH. I heard a jet go over and looked up to see AF 1. I didn't have enough time to get my camera and put the big lens on, so all I could do give him a wave. Sort of.
