The F-18 should be based and Shelt Air
So much for any meet and greet with the Tbirds huh...
Ken
They could have a meet & greet at Islip.
Is Islip spotter friendly? Are there places to shoot?
Just an FYI a Kc 10 landed at ISP on Thurs. Sat there and took off. In a matter of 10 Mins.
Is there any particular reason they chose Islip as opposed to Republic? They have used Republic in the past if I remember correctly...
Ken
From what I remember in years past , they were never really fans of Runway 14. Wanted it to be longer. But it will def be a disappointment not see that huge C17 come into republic. I held my breath watching it land every time!!!
Today at the AAM ................. the calm before the storm ...................

If anyone is interested in joining a "group me" page for air show information & notifications please PM so we can add you.
I am trying to send a private message...it doesn't seem to be going through though....

Is anyone privy to the Friday rehearsal time schedule?
And i wonder if the Tbirds will give FRG a FlyBy when heading back to Islip? Guess that depends on how much fuel they have left!! Would be nice!!
Also on the American Airpower Museum Facebook Page they wrote that they will do their best to send out arrival times of the warbirds coming in next week on both their FB page and website!!
I've been told the terminal and ramp will be closed, and there may be paving work going on at the terminal parking lot - I wonder if those plans effect the Thunderbirds' decision to use ISP?
The Jet team will be at the terminal, This will give more room for the AAM to move bombers around but I do not know anyone that is happy about that. The Bombers will be flying in to the AAM Monday around noon. Happy Hunting
do we have a ETA when they're coming in on Monday
As of this afternoon the ramp/terminal still operational!!
Having the Breitling Team at the Terminal will be great for us!! ETA on them?
And Fred did say Bombers at Noon (mmm cool movie title) and the AAM said they will try to give heads up on arrivals on their Facebook page and website but the FB page would be closer to real time I'm thinking.
The Jack Link's Jet Waco trailer has arrived already and it was parked over by the fuel tanks near Sheltair today.
Won't be long now until all the Air Show Week festivities begin at FRG
F-18 will not be at Jones Beach...confirmed
No F/a-18 demo bummer... I wonder why
Ken
Oh well, so much for the usual Air Show festivities at FRG this week with NO >>afterburner>> departures now !!
Jones Beach went from the CF-18 Demo, to the NAVY F/A-18C TAC Demo, to NO HORNET Demo now. WTF?!
This is very disappointing news, especially with only one week til the show.:frown:
Heard that rumor today Fred. Thanks for confirming.
Fifi and the other CAF warbirds are just for the AAM correct? Not participating in the show ....
Any word on when the C17 or Thunderbird 7 will be arriving at Islip?
Does anyone know if there will be anything like a meet and greet with the Thunderbirds in Islip?
Ken
Doesnt seem we have many "insiders" at ISP as we do at FRG where the info flows pretty freely!! Hopefully we get more info like you asked along with the arrival times of the rest of the Tbirds and where they will be parked and if any Meet and Greets will be available!! I did notice today while over at ISP today a number of new fire extinguishers, generators and a few other things with military colors sitting on the tarmac of Liberty Jet which is in the GA area off Smithtown Ave.
And then we have the whole spotting aspect of ISP and the TBirds!! We all know ISP is notorious for chasing away spotters inside the airport and around the fences of the airport but this time it might be different!! With the TBirds here you are going to have an influx of casual observers along with the hard core fans and if its anything like FRG there will be MANY!! I can see Lakeland Ave and Smithtown Ave looking like New Highway with cars parked along the side of the road. Of course SCPD might have other ideas but we shall see.
My take on it was to find an area to park your car (not on airport grounds) and walk over to that fence line!! I found a few spots which would only be a 5/10 minute hike to 454/Lakeland!!
Good luck to everyone and of course be safe and be smart!!
