Intrepid Museum Re-Opens
The Intrepid re-opened on Fri. I haven't been able to visit but I understand that the entire Visitor Center and Gift Shop were so badly damaged that they might have to demolish the entire structure and re-build. The Space Shuttle Pavilion was deflated so the Enterprise is completely uncovered now enabling photographers great opportunities for photos using telephoto lenses. I will try to visit the pier in a week or two, to see if the Concorde shows any water damage on the exterior.

Finally got to re-visit the Intrepid Museum. It was bitterly cold so I made the visit brief. I came to inspect Concorde Alpha-Delta and happily she survived Sandy in fine form. I saw absolutely no damage and I spoke to the curator who concurred. Sadly, the warm Visitor Center is closed as were the comfort stations. Happily, the Space Shuttle is still in full-view from the pier and the interior of the Museum has re-opened.

Well that's a relief. Thanks for the update! Although I seem to remember photos taken after the storm showing that Enterprise had tail damage- am I not remembering that correctly or did they fix the damage?

You are correct, part of the vertical stabilizer was broken-off and still hasn't been replaced. A guy there told me the piece is not lost and would eventually be replaced in a professional manner.
