Nice shots guys. I tried to make it to Rockaways but the traffic was so bad by the 22s that I bailed and wet to the airport instead to try for a long exposure as she got towed into T1. Total disaster. She was placed at Gate 5 on the west side of the terminal. No chance.

Here she is taxiing at very high speed. To stop the motion and with little light left, I had to go to ISO 25600 and shoot wide open at f/2.8 Sorry for the poor quality!

Here is my "Lovely shot"

I was too disgusted with uploading lats night. Coming in at sunset is one thing but being held up just to lose even more available light is another.
It was a pleasure running into some of JFK's finest :)
I could not bring myself to drive all the way to the Rockaways at that time of day traffic wise. There must have been 20 minutes at least from the time it touched down until it passed our cameras.

Senga you fared better than I did. My shots are totally ruined by the high ISO. I should have gone for a slower shutter/panning shot. Oh well, at least she will be around for some time.

Thanks for the kind words; also always great to run into you. I know I had made the right decision not to go to the Rockaways either due to the massive traffic pileup on Rock Blvd. And yes, thank you JFK for delaying her taxi to the ramp AND putting her on Gate 5 on the west side of the terminal for absolutely NO shot :/

Hi Manny,
Yea it was a tough shot all around. The hardest part is trying to shoot around the planes while trying to keep steady and focused. The funny thing is the best shots I had were when the DAL tailed blocked the plane. Then when it clears those shots are not as good. I was not too happy with the 20-30 minute delay we had once it got on the ground. Every minute it got worse and worse. If it had landed and taxied right to the gate we would have been ok with some usable light.

Lufthansa Retro made her second appearance at JFK today (Apr 19th), and it wasn't much better than the first time. Although she arrived early the light wasn't optimum, and when she taxied by, ground vehicle ruined the shot. Oh well, hopefully better days are ahead.
