Greetings,
A few shots from CCA's B748 inaugural flight into JFK. I am not much of a fan of the B748 or really any series after the "Classic" 100's and 200's" However the from-to-back cheat line really makes this one very attractive. Way to go CCA 5 stars!

Damn. That's a beauty, kicking up the snow and all. Great shot Senga. Sure hope she makes her way over to IAD at some point in the future. In the meantime however, might have to make a special trip up and get her rocking out over howard beach

Thanks all,
Nice shots Jason, Mark. I wanted to get some pics from your location but knowing my luck those blasted clouds that were hovering around would have moved over the plane if I was there. I'm glad not everything is a race to the bottom with these airlines.

I love the 747-8, the Classic is a thing of beauty from the wingtip HF aerials, to the pert bubble up front, the 400 is an awesome performer and the ERF freighters blessed with the small upper deck along with the winglets look superb, the -8, especially the -8F is the ultimate iteration of the breed, those raked wing tips look fantastic , from a pilots standpoint the Classic is a mite underpowered, and extremely dated, my alma mater K4 is making a valiant last stand with the 200, the 400 is the most pilot friendly airplane I have ever flown, performance, coupled with good ergonomics in the cockpit, coupled with the aesthetic beauty of the airframe, win, win!!!, my friends at Atlas who fly the -8 say simply it's the best of a fine breed.

727C47,
The Wingtip aerials are one of my favorite features of the classic series. I also love the rotating beacons that many had and of course the smaller hump. The old flap track system has always been the best looking on the classics too. The H-stab rear wingtip lights (white). And of course the bare metal P&W engines.

I miss the nav old light configuration, white lights on the horizontal stab tips, coupled with the old beacon, instantly identifiable at night. Plus the logo lights were ubiqtuous back then, I remember spotting from Rockaway Playland at night when I was a kid , and watching the European outbounds moan overhead when they were on the 13s, Alitalia, Sabena, SAS, et al, all instantly identifiable per the logo lights illuminating the tail.

Yes there was something about those days. Glad I have the memories. I might add that seeing the VERY rare (I my time) the NWA DC91, B722 and the DAL B722s with the (green/red) rotating navigation lights was a very enjoyable treat not the solid gee,red we see only now. They would be solid and them seem to star to oscillate on off when the strobes came on. I try to find videos of those now but resolutions are not good enough to see them. it was very rare to see this feature and I am sure it was probably the same handful of planes I kept seeing over and over again.

Great days, and JFK is still my field of dreams, and catching the very occasional classic 747, or corporate 727 pivoting on the Canarsie approach takes me right back to the golden age .
