Why would an owner of private plane so againt photos of his plane?

Owner claims privacy, personal reason for photos of his airplane to be removed from aviation site.

Could it be any other reasons for that? Just wonder.

The owner also brought up the point about Nick being on the AOA when he took the photo, looks like there is only one FBO at KPAE, if the owner of the plane stomps his feet enough Nick can forget about going on their property again. Similar incident happened to me in 2008 at an FBO here, had permission from the co-pilot for a photo, then the chief pilot saw me and went ape-$@#* about it yelling, cussing and banging on the counter in the lobby, so I'm banned from there since :tongue:

Hahaha! wow, that dude is seriously butthurt over having his plane photographed. Might I suggest NOT painting it bright red with Billboard Registration N# across the side? All this guy has done now is put a bulls-eye on his airplane now for every photographer whose seen this thread. :cool:

My opinion about? I think, this guy - Steve Schurr pretty dumb.
Before he went online with that stupid id: "wantmyprivacy", no one even knew about that plane - N280AA, neither that person - Steve Schurr.

Now, more people do know that there's some Steve Schurr and that he's owner of an airplane N280AA (http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N280AA.html)

Why didn't he ask to delete aircraft profile as well? By reg #, you can find out who's the owner.

As the photographer in question I have taken great delight in torturing this individual (after he started whining) to which end the photo is now on Flightaware Flickr Facebook and is in the queue for A-net, I guess he is unaware that all his contact info is available online, to respond to previous questions posed in this thread, I am indeed a pilot who has been spotting since 1972 and at KPAE since 1989 worked at KPAE since 1992 been a pilot there since 1993 with driving privileges on the field so my being on the "AOA" is a moot point.

I was saddened however that the spineless website owner of www.airport-data.com Mr. Ken Wang opted to step onto the slippery PC slope of removing my shot of N280AA just because of a simpering whiner who has no legal leg to stand on was making a noise.....I did however delight in informing Mr Steve Schurr that his aircraft is now on multiple websites a fact which I hope he enjoys!

My guess is that he might have something to hide (eg. visiting the mistress), or doesn't want his movements tracked (has many enemies - this is of particular concern to those in the chemical/GMO/waste disposal industry who are often stalked by activists).

That said, if you have something to hide, don't use your airplane, which happens to have a billboard-sized license plate. That's why I haven't gotten license plates with my ham radio callsign for my truck, because you put that callsign on Google and it'll tell you exactly where I live, and that's also why I'm slowly removing that callsign from my internet accounts (wasn't a big deal when I was in school, since it pointed to my mailing address, not my residential).

The agreement with most FBOs (kind of an unwritten rule) is that you do not photograph anything on their ramp, unless you have permission from the owner/crew, which always happened to be the case when I shot F-18s at Legend (KPRC), but the pilots were pretty much giving tours of the planes to the public.

Most pilots I've met are actually happy when they see people taking photos of the plane and sometimes even ask if they can get them by email, or where can they view them, but I suppose most of them have nothing to hide.

Every airport is different. I know at KFRG if you are in the FBO parking lots, they don't harass you unless you are taking pictures of people getting on/off the aircraft.
As long as it is the aircraft not active on the ramp, I have never been asked to move along. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of taking pictures of people, so if I see activity around the aircraft, I don't bother. I'll wait until it's on the roll and get it taking off.

I think that's more of a common sense thing. I've seen FBOs that typically ask you not to photograph the planes on their ramp, and those can't see you're photographing them.
