I almost forgot to post this sad news due to goings-on on this site recently. Scott Carpenter, who was the second US astronaut to orbit the Earth, has passed-away. Now, only John Glenn, is left from the original 7. He was part of the Mercury Program and flew solo aboard Aurora 7. He was rescued in the Atlantic by the crew of the USS Intrepid in May 1962. After retiring, he spent days doing research in an underwater lab. He kept going after retiring, encouraging youth to "Reach for the Stars". He appeared at the Cradle of Aviation in 2006 as well as the Intrepid Museum, just last year. A real US hero, RIP.
