Air Force One is expected to land at JFK Monday morning, May 14, 2012.

The FAA TFR (http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_2_0907.html) starts at 10:15 am local and ends at 9 pm local, so it's a safe bet the aircraft will be landing and departing near those times.

No word on whether Marine One will be flying to Randalls Island or Wall St Heliport.

Weather possibly not looking good for the helos.

Looks like I will be flying out just in time to miss it. Leaving at 830!

Will anyone be out?

seriously considering it, except the idea of having to get to jfk in time to figure out which rwy is in use and the traffic thats sure to be involved is a scary one

is there a phone number I can call for the ATIS on the way over just to be safe?

718-995-8188 for JFK ATIS, but it doesn't matter. Regardless of the active runway broadcast by ATIS - or even if you see actual aircraft landing - AF1 will use 31L unless winds or other conditions are out of limits. And if that happens, the only way you will know about it is if you have a scanner and hear him check in with approach or tower. Go to Bayswater and enjoy.

I will try to be a Bayswater tomorrow morning, unless the weather is very poor. Hoping for a less eventful trip this time...

AF1 is beginning to remind me of Jason Whitebird. Clouds!

Good luck with Air Force 1 which has a different call-sign incidentally. I think it's called SAM somethin. I'm still hoping to see N905NA which ferrried the Enterprise to JFK. It's said to depart on Fri. but where are they hiding it?

When POTUS is on board, they use the "Air Force 1" call sign. When he isn't, it's "SAM xxx" using the tail number of the aircraft, "SAM" being short for Special Air Mission, which is the USAF unit responsible for VIP transport. Without POTUS, the VC-25 will go by SAM 28000 or SAM 29000, depending on which air frame they are using.

So they landed on 31R, ruining the day of yankees368 and anyone else who was in position for a 31L arrival. Could have been due to the Shuttle, or maybe they just decided to switch it up because of schmucks like us ruining OPSEC. :-)

Well at least Inwood CC didn't have another helicopter land on one of it's tee boxes.

I suspect it was due to the shuttle, SCA, and all the various things sticking up in that area, but you never know...

Well, that sucked. Honestly, I should have put the pieces together before heading out. With Enterprise, the 747 carrier and all the cranes is a lot of clutter back there. I had no chance of making it back to Panera. Once again, maybe next time. I actually would have had a much better and closer from had I just stayed home :-(

I was at my sons baseball game tonight and saw the C-17 fly over us around 8:00 or so in a wide pattern as we were in Deer Park. He was most likely picking up the limos.

For the record, the helos came to Wall Street. 2x VH-3, 2x CH-46 (with another overhead), with PD19 providing aerial cover. They stayed at JRB all afternoon instead of returning to JFK.

Also, when the VC-25s are flying training missions, they now use the callsign VENUS.
