I finally spotted a Copa aircraft last week from Panama City. I was surprised to see how similar its tail livery is to the old COA tail now used by UAL. Anybody else notice the ressemblance?

I'm pretty sure that Copa was either partially or fully owned or started by Continental back in the day, and that they only just divested themselves of that investment in the late 90s or early 2000s

CAL did have a large stake in COPA at one time. If you'll notice, the fonts in the name and registration numbers are the same as the old CAL paintjobs as well.

If I remember, there was an issue about some of the 737-700's and/or -800's that were supposed to go to CAL actually ending up at COPA. I might have to research that and see if COPA is flying any 737-824's (the CAL version of the 800).
