Finally under much better lighting conditions... Mark and Eric should have better shots of it from N. Woodmere and departing from HoBe

Not sure if she left but it was a treat to see her under better conditions.

Manny...........glad you were able to make the trek.

Here are a couple of shots from North Woodmere Park (unfortunately some heat distortion).

Having not seen one personally yet, how does it strike you compared to the 744F? (I know... Both at around 150 kts and will blast you into a pinkish vapor state) Would one who would be able to easily pick out a 744F from a half a glance on approach have to take a somewhat closer look, or are the differences REAL obvious? Kinda hard to get the effect I'm referring to by looking at pictures.

Besides the size, which isn't always easy to judge, there are two major visual differences between the 748 and 744:

1. 748's GEnx engines have chevrons on the back
2. 748 has raked wingtips as opposed to the winglets on the 744

Good points....also the flap configuration is different on the 748--no more triple slotted flaps, a more simple design, somewhat similar to the 787 if I am not mistaken...

Great shots by the way.

That's correct Art,
Single slotted flaps outboard and double slotted inboard trailing edge flaps..

Do the 744s have the Luxembourg flag on the tail, too? First time I've noticed it (and I heart vexillology).

As far as I know, they do. Here is a pic on a NON-747-800:

What's the difference between the Puerto Rican flag and my country of origin's flag? Quick! I don;t study them but I do love flags, their history, meaning... and Luxembourg is the last remaining duchy (I just love the sound of that)

Speaking of which, we have had Cargolux bring in the B748 from Seattle on its way to Luxemborg twice now in the last two weeks in to Calgary. Its been sweet to finally see some new airplane metal in Calgary after all the new planes coming out in recent years.

According to the Facebook: "Connecticut Plane Spotters", Cargolux will be flying between Luxembourg and Hartford/Springfield (BDL), using the Boeing 747-8R7F(SCD) this upcoming summer!!!!
