Delta and AA are adding service from the LGA and BOS to IND for the big game on Feb. 5th, with most of the special service on Feb. 3rd and Feb 6th.

LGA will get two rare visitors from Delta on Feb. 6th: A 757-300 and a 767-300.
AA is adding an MD-80 on LGA-IND (2/3) and IND-LGA (2/6).
The volume and size of traffic will be unusual for IND.
BOS will see some upgauging but nothing too unusual.
Other carriers will likely follow suit, especially US and CO. Add anything neat (special types, crazy charters, etc) you hear about below.

Not to nitpick, but DL hasn't had 767-200's in years. Did you mean a 757-200 or a 767-300?

On the Indy side there should be a ton of private/corporate charters coming in. Imagine in two years when the Super Bowl is here. EWR and TEB
will be interesting.

When was the last time a 757-300 was at LGA? It hasn't been since ATA, has it?

Delta flies them in sometimes, as as aircraft sub. IIRC, last winter after all the snow we had, they were used to make up for the passenger backlog.

I know that the NY Giants flew from EWR to Indy on a UAL aircraft but I can't find the tail # or aircraft type. I believe it was a charter. Also, how did the NE Pats arrive? Here in NYC, we had no coverage. I believe that neither team has an aircraft with its logo on the livery.

The Giants chartered a UAL 767-400ER from KEWR. NE flew with in a DAL 767-400ER I believe.

Twice in this thread I had to ask myself "Since does (airline) fly (aircraft)!?!" So weird hearing Delta flying 753s and United with 764s.

We'll have to watch for your flyover. Oh wait, it's in a dome...

yeah, it was going to be a good one too...looks like we're going to a remote airport with no rental car, no crew car, and nothing to do anywhere within walking distance...it'll be a fantastic 14 hour day sitting at the airport =/

I hear there might be a football game on TV you could watch...

yeah, it might be interesting...from what it sounded like, most of the room that the FBO has available is going to be quiet rooms for crews to rest in so they don't bust their rest requirements. But I did hear about that game too...funny you should mention that!

Since 753's are a very rare visitor for LGA (they don't serve JFK either) here is DL's planned 753 schedule for Monday Feb 6 in case anyone wants to try and get a shot of one (or five).

DL 411 Depart LGA 0820 to IND
DL 1848 Arrive LGA 0920 from DTW
DL 1635 Depart LGA 1010 to IND
DL 8787 Arrive LGA 1015 from IND
DL 8786 Depart LGA 1230 to ATL
DL 1045 Arrive LGA 1355 from IND
DL 2347 Depart LGA 1500 to ATL
DL 1635 Arrive LGA 1559 from ATL
DL 2331 Depart LGA 1755 to DTW

And here is their 763 schedule

DL 2148 Arrive LGA 0900 from IND
DL 1847 Depart LGA 1000 to ATL
DL 1146 Arrive LGA 1126 from IND
The above must ferry out probably around 1200-1230

Hope to see a few shots !

Cheers

All 3 of the IND-LGA 753 flights operated around 3 hours late, I am sure a HUGE boom for all the post security Bars & Restaurants at IND. Also did not get a shot but the second DL 763 (wingletted BTW) ferried to JFK using about 2000 feet of Runway to get airborne off 31.

Congrats to the New York Giants and especially those on this board who are very loyal fans !

Was at Indy spotting on top of the car park on level 5 on the Saturday before the game and again on Sunday. Sunday was a gloriously beautiful, balmy 53 sunny degrees!!! Over 500 biz-jets were on the field by game time.....

There was pre-arrangement with the local police ahead of the game - you called a number, gave them your car details, your name, and how long you intended to stay - very friendly.

Some of the Notables included:
N737DX - Boeing 737-400
N810TJ - Boeing 737-400
N710SY - Sun Country 737-700
N804MS - 767
C-GDTD - Challenger 850 (basically a CRJ-200 fuselage)
And the aforementioned charter Delta 767-300s, 757-300s, A330s and UAL 767s and even a 777.

There is a 737NG of Aramco on the field in very sad disrepair - being parted out. N739A if I recall correct.
