I was hoping to catch the Singapore A380, but she was on the otherside and out of view. I ended up with these few shots as the winds were kicking.

For obvious reasons I think this will be my last post for night shots, plus it's too darn cold!!!

Yeah, I hear you Mark. To be honest, I am surprised I have seen as many night shots from JFK as I have lately.

The other thing, is there is too much clutter and very few opportunities as well.

Steve ..... Here is probably my first night shot (Manny, should remember this one). It was taken from HoBe at ISO 10,000 of the DreamLifter as she departed off 4L.

Looks like you yielded some good results after what I'm sure was a nice and cold bike ride over from Lynbrook.

Mark we have definitely tried it in the past... and of course I remember the Dream Lifter fiasco... how can I forget?

Mark and I have tried other times when we had nothing better to do after a full day of spotting

Thanks for the inspiration guys.....my next trip to JFK is going to me like no other trip I have made there before. I am spending two whole days spotting at JFK (one arrivals and one departures) and to finish off the first day of spotting I will be doing night shots. Definitely will be my finest JFK spotting trip to date when I do it in March.

Glad to hear you had a good outting, a incident free run in with the law, and a free cup of java from Rick (who is the manager at Panera).

For planes parked back by where the DreamLifter was, I think a little driving down by the end of Lefferts Blvd by the AirTrain station can offer some quick views. Legal and public.

Phil.......many many moon's ago I use to bike all the way down Lefferts Blvd. and past the oil place on the left and all the way to where the tank sits by 13R. The place use to be a dumping ground. Every once in a while a oil barge would show up and pump its fuel out. I think the dumping ground it gated off now. I recall standing on some hills by the tank and having a so-so view of 13R. I wonder what the view looks like these days from there.

Mark, I really like those shots. Where at JFK were they taken?

Thanks

Manny, that KE 744 is the bombs!! I didnt think KE sends 744s at JFK no more... great catch master...

Isaac....as you are aware, spotting is a challenge at various airports (JFK being one of them). Please view the official spotting guide posted on the website.

Thanks Sergio :-) KAL257/258 is a daily (nightly) 744 service! Used to be filled by Starcraft but we missed it each time. This time Mark and I were on a mission and we lamost missed it too... I could have had a chance to catch it before it docked behind the gate too had it not been for traffic on Rockaway Blvd!

Phil, thanks for the tip. Although I have yet to go past the Air Train station in Howard Beach so I will likely use Mark or Eric as my trusty guides  Hopefully the spotlights are on both sides of the ramp!
