Sunday is approaching fast and it's time to start a discussion thread. So who is committing to come out on Sunday? I am planing to start driving at 3am for 7am arrival my self. Weather.com 5 days forecast shows a nice, clear, cold and crispy day but you know that's going to change.

As long as the forecast stays looking good I will be there first thing Sunday morning. Check your PM.

If they are using the 31s, the A380 will land 31L which means we will have to use Inwood, or Bayswater. Personally, I prefer the angle from Inwood for 31L arrivals.

What time is this arrival scheduled? Isn't this the usual 11:10AM arrival from FRA?

Yes, it is scheduled to arrive at around that time.

Let's hope for RWY 4R for that nice close approach. Otherwise 31L will be next best choice. And hope for no 22L as the sun will not cooperate and North Woodmere is far away from the pattern!

Right now the winds are looking to be forecast out of the NW-NNW which would normally dictate that the 4s or 31s would be in use, but as we all know lately that JFK doesn't seem to care what the wind is doing when choosing runways. From a light source standpoint I am hoping for 31L since it will get full side on sun. But I'd like 4R since it will be nice and close and get that awesome light bounce off of Jamaica Bay. Hmmmmmmm

Thanks everyone. Today SQ26 9V-SPP Boeing 744 landed from FRA at 10:21am. I assume this will be the time frame for the A380 arrival as well on Sunday. Wouldn't this make Inwood or Bayswater back-lit?

I am making every effort to get over this flu bug so I can drive up there. I also am a fan of Inwood shots just to cover the 4's or 31L. If they switch to 22 at the last minute I don't know how anybody could make it in time. They switched like that from 22's to 31L for Lufthansa and I raced my ass off to get to Panera in time, I never would have made Inwood. Fortunately it was rainy so there was no backlighting!

Also keep in mind that Saturday morning will mark the last ever Singapore 747 arrival to JFK. (Barring equipment subs if the A380 breaks down).

SIA is retiring the type.

I would definitely go for a T7 or A340 sub. Since we get neither in SIA colors at JFK

A 340 would be a treat though looking at their fleet and their abundance of 777s I would think we would get that.

Wait, if the 743 was Big Top and 744 Megatop, the A380 would be....Colosso Top? Google Top?(insert sarcastic trumpet notes here)

Today, I heard from someone who knows someone...that the A380 won't be on the route until the flight arriving on Monday.

Looking at their on-line reservation calendar, SQ26, flying SIN-FRA-JFK is a 747-400 on the flight which arrives on Sunday:

The flight which departs SIN on Sunday, January 15, and arrives at JFK on Monday, does show as an A380...

All I can say is thank goodness I have the day off for the holiday on Monday- I would've been so p.o'ed to be looking forward to this for several months only to have the schedule moved over a day and have to be back at work(my job does not allow time off in January)

This was always the schedule we just didn't look at the details close enough. The Flight does leave Singapore on the 15th, the day the service was suppose to start. The flight just arrives here on the 16th.

Eric were you in black Infinity of Honda minivan? I have never been abused by cold weather in entire my life in the name of my hobby. It was brutal but we survived. We concluded departure shots more dynamic than arrivals and dispointed with my self for not visiting Hobe all this years, smh. Now, where are we gathering tomorrow with the forecasted south winds

Exactly... unlike the guy today in a red Dodge Viper R/T doing what seemed to be 120MPH on Rock Pwy by the 22L/R approach. I was doing about 80-90 (like the typical jerk that I am) when this guy passed me like I was standing still.. Cool, but, waaaay too obvious
