People have to be mindful how to read into this. If you look at the order totals most of Airbus's run away sales comes from an updated A320 which in the short term is going to cannibalize A320 sales that would result in near term delivery vs. long term delivery. Plus the resigned air product isn't overwhelming different. Airbus's choice to update the A320 is the exact same problem Boeing is wrestling with right now on the 737. Do they simply update the 737 or come out with an entirely new model. It’s a double edge sword Airbus is taking a risk on. Both companies know that consumers are going to go with the new fuel efficient model however in the near term existing model sales are going to suffer. Seems Boeing is moving a bit more cautiously which may be a good thing. However they need to be careful, the new C Series from our friends to the north is going to be a real alternative to the 737.
