Spent about an hour last Friday on Bayswater Street, Boston, MA directly proportional to runway 22R to obtain some hour long spotting footage. It is an excellent spot to watch takeoffs when the winds are from the South or West. Though the jet fuel will get to you after awhile ;). The video shows the excellence of ATC (when they are awake). This is what I got, reduced to 2:30 minutes:

After about an hour of hanging out, a couple officers in a Boston Police cruiser pulled up beside me with their usual statement "neighbors are concerned". "To hell with the neighbors" says me. Just kidding, but they did show up and asked what I was up too. I told them, just filming some footage for a class project and so on. I also said "I will only only be filming for another few minutes, do you want me to leave now?" He says "no no, not necessary, take your time." They did ask for an ID and so forth, punched the information in, and off they went. Some of the nicest officers I've run into. If I ever run into law enforcement in the area again, it better be with those guys! It was a good hour or so overall! I guess this would be a spotter blotter, but its also my review.

very nice - who took the video?

(I love those Cape Airs just sneaking in)

I also still can't get used to seeing Southwest, AA & DL 737's there...just doesn't seem to right to me after years of spotting and not seeing them.

Great stuff! I said it in another forum this vid happens to be posted in, I can't get used to seeing AA & DL 737's - and Southwest. Just doesn't seem right after years of MD80's and 757's for both.

Great video. The little 2 prop commuter (Cape Air?) at 1:36 just cracks me up the way it just zooms off to the right.

Thanks all for the comments. I agree! I really do miss seeing all the Delta MD80s and American MD80s. Delta still has various MD80 flights into Logan, but not nearly as many as they use too. American only has a few MD80s now operating out of Logan. They were definitely some of the louder jets over the years. Quieter is not better.

I can give you all the MD-80s you want, they seem to stock up on them at DTW. I despise those, I've never had a trip where an issue hasn't developed on me.

Pretty cool, man. It's neat to see those little Cape Air guys scoot off to the side after they depart.

Lol send them over. I may careless to ride on one but I sure do miss listening to those gas guzzlers flying over.

Fantastic video, thanks for sharing. I find it kind of amusing watching the rudder movements of the planes during their takeoff roll. Reminds me of watching a fish swimming.

So Chris did they any of these media groups ask you for permission to publish your video?
And if not can they do that? Looks like they just took it and ran with it from your reaction.

As long as they embed the YouTube player anyone can publish it on whatever site they want. The creator still has control over it and can pull the video down if he/she wants. If a publisher wanted to copy the video and put it in their own player, they would need permission.

I had one person from photoweeklyonline.com ask permission to post my video, everyone else did it without permission except for flightaware.com. I have no problem with it until someone decides they want to take credit for the video and pretend they made it. I recently was getting nervous and close to pulling it off YouTube when the video started showing up on a lot of random websites without my permission, but the positive out look is that it drew lots of views. :)

Thanks Chris (and Gotham). Yes its cool to see your video get lots of play but you do have to due your due diligence to make sure everything stays kosher.
