Last few shots from the day... It was definitely one of the best days on the beach... and my last full day as Friday I would only have the very early morning.

The daily AFR is a nice treat. Usually the only heavy unless KLM or Corsair come in (KLM is Sun,Tue with the 747, MD-11 on Fri, and Corsair 747 on Thur.)

I met the pilots of the outbound flight for the above plane... super nice guys! I will post their inbound the day before on another post.

that's my daughter on the lower left of the frame. She would NOT stand on the flightpath. I even bribed her with chocolate, cash, Disney... NOTHING would make her stand under the planes

The big boys have to taxi on the RWY as there is no room for them on the small taxiway

he promised a good show. He held the brakes, went full throttle and held it for about 5 seconds and then let go.. .Even a small A320 can blow people in the water. The 747 and A340 are REALLY fun to watch

jetblue pilots tend to do that. when I was there last time one lined up as close to the fence as possible held the brakes, it was insane. After that departure a "follow me" person came out and instructed every plane to taxi further up for departure. I had never seen that before.

Thanks Rom

Eric, you're right.. .the other guys who love to do this are DAE and Insel... the MD83 is REALLY powerful. I swore I saw the wheels skid against the brakes when they throttled to 110% for like 10 seconds at about 50 feet from the fence. They actually go down to the chevrons and turn ... the only luck people have is that the runway is actually a bit higher than the sand...

I was the victim of engine number 1 on the AFR A340 one day. I was a bit too close to the path and got my hat in the water and a ton of sand in my shorts LOL. And I was about 20 feet from the in-line path of that outboard engine... the wings go waaaay outside the boundaries of the asphalt!

BTW, while I was there, the AFR never came in low, the KLM so so and the Corsair high... someone at the beach later told me the Sunday KLM delivered a few haircuts !! ;-)
