The Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday said it had accepted Southwest Airlines' transition plan to acquire AirTran Airways.

This title needs to be restated...

The FAA has only approved WN's "transition plan" for Southwest and Air Tran pilot's should the merger go through. This is a plan that states what will happen to WN/FL Flight Team during the merger process. The acquisition has NOT been approved yet.
