Has anyone ever successfully gotten permission from media relations to photograph?

UFO? I photograph airplanes all the time and don't need permission from anyone to do so. What exactly are you looking to get permission for?

I meant on airports where the rent-a-cops are very adverse to aircraft photography, like EWR.

I've done it at other airports like BOS and PVD, but I have a feeling EWR isn't open to that.

Only for airshows and it varies between show sites.

thats easy, just tell them you need to use the bathroom.... sometimes they give you the wrong key without realizing it

Actually if you figure my 40D price ($899) and the 28-75 Tamron Lens ($495) = 1394.00 and my camera has about 200,000 shots on it..... That means that shot cost me about $0.00697 but we need to round that to the nearest cent so it's price is about $.01 plus or minus $.00025323 for any errors.

Photography is one of the perks of my job at Lambert-Saint Louis International. I always have my camera with me, for when something happens. In 13 years of working there, I have learned that it's a matter of when it happens, not if. being able to park along the north edge of taxiway Charlie as the planes take off or land is sweet, and being able to get that unobstructed picture is even better. The coolest thing I've seen and gotten pictures of was the 747 Space Shuttle Carrier that transported the Boeing Phantom Ray to Edwards. Seeing it take off for it's test flight, with the snow along the runway blowing up as it roared down the runway was awesome. one of the company EMB's had to taxi around my truck because I wasn't moving, and didn't think I would have to explain to a fellow pilot why I wasn't going to move... the camera in my hand should have said enough. LOL And yes, I have had the Secret Service run me off at least once when Air Force One was coming in. It was on approach, and they didn't approve of my viewing area, so I had to leave "immediately".
