Korean Air has announced the details of their planned A380 operation with their first aircraft being delivered in May of this year.

http://airlineroute.net/2011/01/12/ke-380-s11/

Korean Air will be introducing the A380 on one of their two daily ICN-JFK flights, KE81/82, effective August 2nd with 3 weekly frequencies on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. As of September 1st the A380 will go daily.

This change is already effective in schedules. KE81 arrives into JFK at 11:30am and KE82 departs at 2:00pm.

As of September 2011 JFK will have Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa, and Korean Air operating the A380 to JFK, three of which operate from Terminal 1.

It may be kind of plain, but Korean Air's livery and paint scheme is going to look great on the A380. I can't wait to make it down to see that beauty on approach to JFK.

I think it will be the prettiest whale jet so far...

Yes I think you are right about that. That sure does look alot better than the mostly plain white whale jets out there right now.

It's going to look cool. Like Babe the Blue Ox of Paul Bunyan fame.

unless you have a Wunala type scheme on this whale it will always look bloated and ugly.

Fact of the matter is the Korean Air color scheme will be, at least for the time being, the most colorful livery on the A380 considering the rest of the airlines that operate the aircraft have a mainly white scheme.

Good news is this will be the first A380 daylight departure in good light for HoBe. Lufthansa will have a daytime departure later in the afternoon.

True very true but no matter how colorful you make it it will still be a bloated whale

Just curious as to why you have so much hatred for this bird? I mean even from Boeing lover/country I can't hate it or any Airbus, though I prefer Boeing I just hope that every plane (By any aircraft maker) has safe flights everyday and none ever go down.

And dam, not on LAX route til October :(

I can't wait to see this plane!

There has to be about 1,000 extra pounds of paint or stickers on that plane to cover it fully in color.

For the record, I do not like the Korean Air livery but absolutely adore the A-380. I am with Brandon, a true die hard Boeing fan, but even the A-340 has grown on me ... sorry Gordon, until I started spotting it regularly, it never struck me as beautiful. But I am beginning to liek it.

I must be the only one that loves the Lufthansa and Air France largely plain schemes :-) I think the Asiana tail is cool but they need a new fuselage scheme, I think that chevron is not that exciting.

Airbus birds are all ugly to me. The only one that remotely isnt that bad is the A350. Which is a cop off of the 787. The 380 just looks horrible. It looks highly bloated and doesnt have much appeal.

IMHO, so far SQ is the best. However KE will be prettier.

PS: And being a BOEING FAN I am warming up big time after flying couple of times to this a/c type.

Ok, but still no reason to hate on it all the time. Even Boeing compliments Airbus and vice versa when they manage to achieve something that is new.

I'm a huge Boeing fan as well but from spotting and flying on them the Airbus craft are up there as well. The A380 is growing on me as well and can't wait to see the big blue whale.

the A340 is elegant, the A380 is awe inspiring, but i still prefer the 747,and can't wait to see the -8 in service.

While my all-time favorites, the Concorde, has been de-commissioned and the B744 is rarely seen at JFK anymore (except for freighters), we must settle for the A380. It sure is more attractive than the B777 versions. Since we can't turn-back the hands of time, we must get excited to see the A380, which is beautiful in its own way. Remember that a spider is considered beautiful to another spider.

When will Lufthansa start sending its A380 to JFK? Will it be flight DLH 400/410? I guess their B744 that came daily last summer will be gone.
